As long as we dont have to deal with essendon in trade week we should do ok.
There is no way they will offer us anything decent after what we have done to them recently.

1st we grabbed there champion player as our coach, leaving them to pick up mwhahaha knights.
Then we been taking players off them for virtually nothing every year.
Although its knights fault mcphee left after the terrible treatment of lloyd an lucas, forcing them out to early making mcphee question how long before the same happened to him.

Tarrant is in our top 6 most important players. I am not saying one of the best but important for our team balance. So, we should be looking at getting a trade for someone of equal value. This may be way off but what about Mackie from Geelong. I wasn't able to watch the game so don't know if he played or not. If not, he may be a bit disgruntled and may want to move on. I think Geelong could use someone like Taz as they could not handle Collingwood's tall forwards. Call me crazy but why not? Either way, with so many teams bidding for him we are bound to get something good.

Why would we trade for Djekurra when he will probably be delisted and nominate for the draft. See below.

there is no way djekurra will be just delisted, he will be traded as this is what he has asked for and he has all the talent in the world. if it werent for geelongs power mids, he'd be a premiership player

I have been in Australia for about 10 years now but I still don't get it. What is so hard for Sports people (particularly AFL players) to play in a different state? They are professional athletes getting paid well. If you can be a starter on a team why wouldn't you want to go there? It is just strange to me.

Mainly because there's 10 Victorian teams. Why move west for an opportunity when he'd walk into the best 18 at atleast 7 Victorian clubs or could get paid twice as much at the Gold Coast?

While our 2010 form has been encouraging I doubt there's many Victorian based players sitting at home during their break thinking "Gee I hope I get shipped off to Fremantle during trade week".

Tarrant is in our top 6 most important players.

Well he is except because of his age and injuries he has an extremely limited value. I actually think we overstate his trade value significantly. For a player unlikely to play more than 2 years, and unlikely to play every game in that period, I would be looking at a third round pick or a player trade.

Mackie didn't play. so is clearly not in Geelongs 6 most important. Also, Geelong will have salary cap issues (even if Ablett goes, as apparently Selwood's contract increases if Ablett goes GC). They need to shed players. Mackie to me is similar to Roberton, tall running defender. I think adding him to Roberton, MacPharlin, Grover, Silvagni makes us too tall, and would prefer Djekurra from the Cats.

Taz for Josh Fraser in one paper....um, no

Would take it to be honest.

Would rather a pick under 30, but Fraser wouldn't be the worst result. Would only be rucking 25-30% of the time giving Sandilands a good rest on the bench/forward line and would definetely do a better job than Michael Johnson pinch hitting. Also a decent tall option in the forward line.

As I said I would rather a decent draft pick.

I am split 50/50 on this one - I think Subi would suit Fraser and he would only be back-up to Sandi and would allow more development time for Zac....but he is at times so soft it makes me sick. Maybe Fraser and a pick or Fraser + medders for old times sake and I could live with it.

I wouldn't do it. Collingwood should win the grand Final this year, why make them even stronger next year? If as rumoured we are swapping Byron Schammer for Griffen why do we need another ruckman? We should try for Goldsack or a pick if we trade with Collingwood.

In my ideal world I would be trading Taz and our first pick to Geelong for Mackie and J Corey. This scenario would be very likely should Ablett decide to stay and Geelong look to free up some cap and Taz accepts a low contract for a shot at glory. We should be able to muck around with contracts around Pav going onto the veterans list to fit in Mackie and Corey will provide some time for Hill and Morabito to develop further.

If it helped to sweeten the deal I would throw in the 2nd and 3rd rounder for Djerrkura being added.

Hell, in the past we would have traded all three picks for Corey alone and I am happy to not draft any players this year in a compromised draft. Effectively, our first three draft picks for 2011 will be Barlow, De Boer and Silvagni (rookie upgrades), still a very good draft.:D

I know prob dreaming.

Corey's slid down the pecking order alot this year, mostly due to injuries but also having to catch up on fitness throughout the course of the 2nd half of the season, i'm pretty sure he's at least 30 and he's not just going to bounce back to his form of 2007 given his age. There's also the distinct possibility he was able to be so prominent for so long because of the caliber of his teammates, he wouldn't have the same privelidge here and at 30 just plain doesn't fit in with Freo's recruitment policy.

Maybe but in my crazy hypothetical world to get Mackie so cheap we need to free up cap at Geelong for Gazza and would be obliged to take Corey to make the deal happen. I think the recruitment model is gonna be tweaked anyway as alluded to by Harvs and he still loves a good older body in the mids (see Solomon and Mark Johnson) and Corey is better than those two. Corey will be 29 in November pretty much same age as Pav, has been pretty durable aside from this year, which would have limited his impact as mentioned.

I thought of Fraser a couple of weeks ago but didn't suggest it for fear of being laughed out of here. Fraser goes ok down forward. Change might freshen him up.

I thought so too but I think the issue is that what was once considered athletic as a ruckman has been blown away by the increased speed of the modern game. Unfortunately Josh had to change his game and get tougher but couldn't do it.

id be surprised if he went to collingwood. Reid and brown are holding down the key posts in the best team in the comp and there a lot younger. Carlton want him and he's very good mates with heath scotland. as for the fraser link there is no chance, dodgy knee and battles travelling as it is,couldnt handle doing it every 2nd week. Journo obviously heard it on the radio and thought 2 and 2 makes 5.
