Oppo Camp Hawks v Dees

I think the Demons were good in winning, but not that good. I don't think they can beat the Eagles over there.

Btw, do commentators ever wank on about any of our players like they do about Viney???

They’ve been going on all week about him, how when in juniors, parents didn’t want their kids playing against him. The AFL app has been giving random updates on his possessions. He’s a good player but come on....

Of course not. Taylor Adams plays a similar game but only ever gets spoken about when he misses a kick.

He's immediately the player I thought of for us too. He basically plays the same yet goes through a game anonymously.

Good to see the Hawks go down tonight, very difficult to win finals with your best players not playing. Kennett's expression at the end of the game, priceless!
"............but Melbourne won, cant have it all. Us beating them in the GF...priceless!

Old Bruce he always finds people to toss over.

He is the greatest most chronic self flogger of all time.

Nick off Hawthorn.

Can't stand them

Horrible jumpers too.

It's all good now hawks gone.

Self glorification perhaps, but if we lose this week or next, all interest in who wins the GF this year is gone.

Reckon Melbourne could put it to WCE but Hawthorn would be no chance. Half hoping for a Melbourne win for the sake of a good prelim, as well as Hawthorn being out.

For some reason I just can't bring myself to like Melbourne right now ?
Bit late at the moment, but since the Dees won, they beat Eagles, we potentially win tomorrow, shock the Ninth, and then get some revenge for 1964. It's a fairytale ending.

To top it off, the Dees bus turns into a pumpkin! Ode to the Cinderella story :thumbsu:

Edit:

Melbourne vs Collingwood GF;)

TradeDraft already called the Grand Final. Credit where it's due big fella!

He is my Favorite better then the Morons who call it these Days

Completely with you on Rexy, Davo. His nicknames and colourful rhetoric was some of the finest serenading ever to bellow from my radio dial. God, he was impartial too.

R.I.P. unbiased commentators :drunk:

You obvously missed the day St Kilda beat Collingwood and Rex declared he was so happy

They beat them a few weeks ago over there.

They have got their confidence up now.

No way WC beats them by 10 goal IMO.
Dees have improved and took a step up knowing now they can beat the best. Nevertheless I watched the WCE v Melbourne match and eagles got caught napping at the start and then nearly reeled them in anyway without thier forwards. In fact it was the ability of wce mids to match the dees that game that makes me think they will smash dees .

WCE were missing the two big forwards too (as already mentioned) when they played the Dees

Melbourne looked good tonight but I had the feeling they might have crumbled if Hawthorn had taken anything like full toll with their chances.

If a Melbourne/Richmond game happens (hopefully not) it could be quite a game if Melbourne are "on"

They controlled stuff all. Sure, they hang onto the ball, but they also fail at taking the game on. Melbourne led the whole night, so I'm unsure how that's a Hawks choke.

winning the inside fifty count to lose by 5 goals. just very messy and uncomposed for a hawks team, and i guess thats cos they are thin for talent at bottom end. but i thought warning signs for melbourne were really there. like i said, happy to be wrong, im just really curious to learn how other people see a game of footy, thats part of the enjoyment of discussing it on this forum, for me at least

No different to the second game against the Ninth in 2007 when he was wrapped with them getting an upset.

The bloke might have been a bit eccentric, and had a screw loose, but he was a good fisherman.

I'll concede to your wisdom on this one, too.

Dees will get WC. We should have last week and they’re playing better footy than us currently, IMO. They’re riding the wave ala the Bulldogs and Richmond!

On the Viney love in I get it myself! He’s Adams with Treloar like explosiveness in the contest. If he were 4 inches taller he’d be the complete midfielder. Without that extra height he’ll never be a goalkicking or marking threat, but damn if I were a Dees fan I’d be bloody proud of his past fortnight.

Do not see Melbourne getting close to West Coast.
Just don't see melbourne besting WCE after their last two weeks.

Dees will need to clean up their forward 50 entries to beat the Eagles. They'll also lose comfortably if they lose the inside 50 count like they did last night.

Eagles are significantly better on every line than the Hawks, so it'll be interesting.

Some observations following the game last night:

1. Melbourne fans are arrogant, classless bandwagoners who were giving it to Hawthorn fans about straight sets, and then me about straight sets as a Pies fan. You'd think after the last 12 years you would have some humility, particularly for 2 teams who Melbourne owe their current existence to: Hawthorn saved them in 1996, we continue to fund them in 2018.

2. 90,000+ two weeks in a row is a blight on a club that averaged only 44,000 for home games this season.

3. This is the subsidised 'fairytale'. A lot of people are buying into it because, well ... Dogs and Tiges. The difference between those two sides and Melbourne however is that the Dogs and Tiges turned it around themselves, without the AFL stepping in and taking control.

4. Even though they've won both games by 5 goals, Melbourne have kept Geelong and the Hawks in it. Against Geelong they showed mental fragility and couldn't close the deal; against the Hawks that same fragility threatened to rear its head at moments of the game. That's not to say that Melbourne didn't deserve to win last night, because they did. They were the better side, but their 2 finals performances haven't been as convincing as many media outlets and Melbourne fans would like you to believe.

5. Hawthorn will yo-yo for the next year or two. They have ageing players in McEvoy, Burgoyne and Roughead, and their lesser players who played last night such as Schoenmakers and Dureaya just aren't up to it. Clarkson knows this and will continue to acquire decent free agents where he can to keep them competitive, whilst continuing to develop the players they have drafted in recent years.

Personally I think he's the sort of player who could be exposed in finals if he came up against one of the big boys. Luckily for him most of the of the best ones (like Fyfe and Kennedy) aren't involved or played little role this season. The influence that the big inside mid can have on a final is exactly why we should be so optimistic about Sier. In the unlikely even that we come up against Melbourne in the GF then I think we can really get a hold of them in the middle with our bigger bodies. De Goey monstered them in the middle earlier on this season and Sier is a bigger bloke than him.
