#46 Chris Mew was a great story in 1983. "Mew, streaming down field, looking for Matthews.... What a grab from the skipper" (Peter Landy, 1983 GF). I can almost recite the whole game. Only wish I could remember everything like I can games I saw when I was a kid!

Small David Parkin was captain in 1971.
Number 21 stands out in terms of relative lack of achievements. A good opportunity for the next person can make a for himself.

Hudson wore # 1 in 1977. He won the Coleman. Rocket Eade wore 26 from 1976.

Feedback to a few posts:

Yes, perhaps the list should include Peter Hudson as #1 when he won the Coleman in his comeback year of 1977. Not sure what your reference to Rocket Eade is about as he is listed as #26 from 1976?

Agree #21 is a bit lean with 2 players of note. Michael Byrne from our 1983 Premiership team, not exactly a household name, and Richie Vandenburg who is the only player to captain the Hawks and not have a premiership medal.

Re Col Austen's Brownlow medal in 1949 (wearing jumper #9) awarded retrospectively. NB. the stats were compiled from 1961.

Since 1961 maybe, but there were multiple captains before then (Peter O'Donohue, Kevin Curran, Ted Fletcher) who didn't play in premierships.

New numbers released at 1pm today via the website.

Looks like Kaiden Brand is getting an update from 42

NB. everything related to the stats I posted is from 1961. FYI, Bert Mills has the record for the most games as Hawks captain without a premiership.

I wonder if Jed is content with 37 and wants to keep it. Surely he'd have been given a stab at a higher number this year and no-one took 21.

Just watching the video - Hardisty looks like he doesn't have to add much to his bulk, what a tank.

Sicily moved up. Prepare for debut next year.

Interesting too that Heatherley has been moved up.

And what is with the Langfords hair??

Anderson might have his eyes on another number that could pop in the next year or 2.

Poor Webcam.

Interesting that Hartung was the only draftee from last year not to change numbers. Wonder which one of the older player's jumper number he's eyeing off.

Happy with the rest of the changes. Really like Sicily in 21, JOR 13, Frawley 12.

Whoever takes the 5's old number?

Poor Zac, nothing justifies the punishment of carrying the No.36 for Hawthorn. I like Brand in 30 and Sicily in 21. I wonder why he wasn't in the video though. Hardisty seems to naturally suit the Rats old number. I would love a 44 running around in a premiership side again. Frawley in 12 and JOR in 13 are backwards for mine but meh
