Being a fan of such shows as Boardwalk Empire Les Revenants and Rectify and to be honest Errol Morris type documentaries this is right up my alley

Doesn't bother me either. I'm enjoying it. However you know it's going to go BANG.

Thank you HBO. This is just so amazingly good.

They really immerse you in the environment the story is playing out in through sounds and imagery. When they visited the church and Cohle was walking in and put his hand on the door running it along it I felt like I was there touching the door with him.

If you've watched the trailers for the show you know it's about to heat up.

I have also really enjoyed this one so far. A little slow for my fiancé to like so might be solo in watching this. I really have no idea where they are going to go with this. Generally I see people are thinking that either woody or Matthew Mc is a suspect in a new murder similar to the one in 95? Or are people thinking it was one of them all along?

Slow, yes. Brilliant, yes.

Such a nice change from all the run of the mill cop shows that are out there, which i can't stand.

Some great character development with Rust this episode, Mcconaughey is doing a terrific job.

Agree with the other poster who said that you can't miss a moment or you'll be left behind. For a character driven show to be like this shows the quality in the writing.

Wouldn't be HBO without a set of cans. And what a set they were.

The two guys questioning Cohle and Hart definitely see Cohle as a suspect in some capacity. They're asking more questions about Cohle than the case itself.

It'd be too obvious if one of them did it though.

I'm thinkin' more along the lines of some religious nutters as opposed to Woody and MM's characters as the perps

Reckon the governor has something to do with it.

i hope not, the most frustrating and obvious part of more cliche'd shows is when they introduce a character that is not immediately connected, they are inevitably the killer

I once watched a criminal intent marathon with a mate and successfully 'guessed' the bad guy 5 episodes in a row by using the method of it being the second character introduced that wasn't a suspect.

Though a lot of really great endings have twists which surrounded a central or peripheral character being revealed to be something they are not. It all depends on the execution, being some random guy they come across late in a show can be just as disappointing as some cliche 'it was him all along' scenario.

If it turns out to be the governor, I think they have laid enough logical ground points to get there without a suspension of disbelief.

So far I think I've read that there's a cliche ending if it's either MM or Woody, or if it's a peripheral character that ends up being the killer.

What distinguishes BB from TD is that BB had an original story line no one had seen before, we didn't know where to look. Cop shows are everywhere, so the ending will be cliche in one way or another because literally every ending has been explored, it's more about how it gets us there. If you expect something you've never seen in a cop show, it'll be difficult to be impressed.

First two episodes. :thumbsu:
