I hate how Foxtel have taken to showing previews now before the end credits. I never watch previews (why would I when I have every intention of watching the thing next week anyway) but sometimes I like to hear the credits song out without having to fast forward an ad first. Such as when it's a Nick Cave, as a random example.

We disconnected from Foxtel, not because of this, but watching Game of Thrones it was ****ing shit a tenth of a second after the final scene getting an ad for next week and BMW  Free-to-air level shit.

Vince Vaughn is suited to drama and Rachel McAdams has decided to be a real actor :thumbsu:

Haven't read any online consensus outside this thread but most of the negativity is probably tossers who want to write for The AV Club.

I found the pacing of the first episode made it a bit difficult to enjoy, but I see the point of it. Designed to introduce us to the arrogant gangster played by Vaughn, and eventually bring the three cop characters together. So I expect the next episode will be better now it's out of the way.

I just want to give a shout out to the scene in the bar near the end of the episode. The girl playing that song, 'this is my least favourite life' and the conversation with Vaughn and Farrell was the moment that hooked me personally. I have lots of hope for this season.

I didn't get any indications at all from what Vaughan's character is supposed to be from the first episode. I know from the written articles previewing the series, Vaughan is meant to be a gangster. I didn't see much in that first episode to suggest is he thus far.

And I thought the death the brought the 3 cops together, could of been done much earlier. This should of happened in the first 20 or so minutes.

Yeah but you had to introduce the characters first before it all came together?

You would at least have to introduce the bike guy (whats his name? Is it olyphant?) And give his back story before he went and half suicided that led him to finding the body.

And Vaughns character was waiting on the dead guy at the presentation so you'd have to do that introduction as well.

And that introduction would tie Colin Farells character in through the beat down of the reporter which means you'd at least have to introduce him a little bit.

McAdams' character seems to be the only one who they didnt need to introduce before dropping the murder and then by that stage if youre introducing 3 you may as well introduce all four.

I like it. Went in a different direction to s01 that started with the murder first thing as well.

Loved it, especially enjoyed the opening credits song, set the vibe for the episode well. Was a fan of Friday Night Lights, Kitch wasn't too bad in a very different role. Not really sure what to make of his character yet though, but I guess we'll find out more soon enough.

Thought that was the best scene of the episode actually, the woman singing the song was perfect as well for that scene.

Those shows are shit.
Take that back.

There is no other show like Crim Minds. I like the way the go into detail about the unsubs character, plus it's about more gruesome than other shows.

NCIS LA is probably my favourite out of the three. Their laid back nature and jokes are fun to watch, especially when you compared it to the guys in DC.

Great episode. Enjoying the interactions (particularly car) between Farrell and McAdams, it's not MM and Woody in season 1 intensity, but it's compelling in a very different way. Liking the stakes being raised this episode too, Vaughn's in particular. And that ending. :thumbsu:
