Interesting call!

'The Sopranos', 'Breaking Bad' and '6 Feet' spring to mind.

Yeah, I like the finish 'Seinfeld' (well, at the time)

Still though, 'True Detective' was so awesome and it really dropped off. (IMO)

Sopranos and BB were ok, not great. Six feet was better mainly coz it was a fitting end nothing fantastic though.

yeah those 3 all have very fine endings but lets not forget the furor surrounding The Sop's finale - the abuse flowed thick & fast until people spent some time to really understand it.

6FU ending will never be surpassed though, simply a masterpiece.

I've never visited this forum before (at least that I can remember)

Saw a film last night and came on to give it 9.5/10.

Saw this thread and wrote a small remark about the ending.

The following sh**storm has been unbelievable.

At least we can all agree Dexter had the shittest ending of all time. So many possibilities too...

..Well the ending was a cop-out.

Could've spent 2-3 seasons at least fleshing out that 20 year period. I for one would've loved to see Rust in Canada, and the development there, and what specifically brought him back. But writers are afraid to take it slow these days...

If they spent 3 seasons on it Rust wouldn't have been played by McConaughey and Woody wouldn't have been there either.

There is no guarantee the show would stay on air that long, or if McConaughey's schedule would remain open. Writers aren't afraid to take it slow, either. Look at Lost, or Dexter, neither show should have lasted as long as it did.

And that's generous.

The finale of Dexter (and the whole final season, tbf) was the worst that I've ever seen.

Had so much potential too with the psychologist story then it went nowhere they could have really explored his psyche but nope lets try and givd dexter the serial killer a soulmate so he can live happily ever after.

That show started so awesome though.

I'm writing hypothetically anyway. The criticism is that it finished up poorly, a proposed solution is to take longer. It's not my fault they 'don't have time' to fulfill their artistic promise. And, from my couch on the other side of the planet; I shall criticise it as such.
