This is adorable NSWCROW like watching small child discover new and exciting things. I really envy you getting to watch TD for the first time.

I watched it for the second time and
felt like a ****ing idiot cause it's all so obvious and the clues are right out in the open!

I loved the slow burn of it, the unique strangeness of lousianna mixed with the cold intrigue of the story was great for me,

reminded me very much of zodiac and seven, looking forward to the rest of the series

Yeah and that theme song, wow. Can't wait for the next series , different characters, must be coming soon?

Ah, man. Absolutely lost my shit at this.

Anyway, only a week to go. I'm trying to keep my expectations in check, I can't imagine it being better than the first season. That was just phenomenal.

Speaking of which, will also be re watching that before next Monday.

Better than the first. This is as good as gets. Absolutely loving the new age of TV at the moment. Definitely surpassed film the last few years and it's no surprise with shows like TD. Love Colin Farrell's character already and Vaughn is a pleasant surprise. These ain't no ordinary cops. A few messed up heads but the search for truth is what counts. Hooked and back in. Next week looks a cracker. Pizzolatto is a genius.

really, really good start. all the characters are brilliant, farrell's in particular. and goddamn, rachel mcadams. :fire:

i also like how the majority of the footage from all the trailers/teasers have come from the first episode. i reckon there's a heap of shit to go down later on in the season.

The scathing criticism this is copping on the IMDB boards is utterly ridiculous yet sadly not even remotely surprising, so many people just built this show up way too much to the point where for them it has become something it never was and thus nothing will ever please their own unrealistic standards.

Personally I liked it, it was a promising intro that served it's purpose in introducing the new characters and the new setting, that scene where Farrell's, McAdams' and Kitsch's characters meet at the end was great IMO. Now we've reached that point I expect things will really start to progress quickly.

Most of the criticism seems to center around the fact people think the pacing was too slow and that the characters weren't interesting compared to the first season. Personally I don't know what show they were watching last year but the pacing of the first couple of episodes was in no way any faster than what we saw from S02E01, and I don't know how Farrell's character could have had a more interesting introduction tbh. People who are comparing this to S01E01 and saying this doesn't live up to it are just rewriting history IMO.

Also I really like the atmosphere they've created here, obviously it's very different to the New Orleans vibe of S1 but this epsiode really reminded me of that sinister old school noir vision of L.A. Also some of the sound and direction in this episode had a bit of a David Lynch feel to it IMO so I can definitely see the potential for this to get creepy.

Not as fast as a start as season 1, but its an anthology series so its not meant to be like S1. Dont think the new theme is as good as S1, but might grow on me. Also another Nick Cave song in the end credits.

W Earl Brown [Dan Dority from Deadwood, Bill from TLoU] is in it, i hope he gets more time i love him but f**k he has aged. Also David Morse AKA HBO's go to guy for any roll in a HBO show, looks strange with hair.

Ray is just f**ked, like beating the shit out of the dude. all 3 main characters are just broken people i think Ray might be to worst. The Aerial shots are still amazing, Has potential. I think Vince Vaughn is doing a good job. and think this might be his Pulp Fiction roll that brings him back from shit comedys. The make-up artists are amazing with how they made Collin and Vince look younger in the first bar scene.

Didnt give us too much in the first ep since it spent a long time setting up the characters but doing a good job with it, just wish they were not all so broken. I think and hope McAdams will be this years MM. Looking forward to next week.

The problem is that Season 1 pretty much came out of nowhere. "Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in a cop show? Uh okay". It hit like a f***ing volcano. Season 2 was never going to have that much of an impact.
