I loved the slow burn of it, the unique strangeness of lousianna mixed with the cold intrigue of the story was great for me,
reminded me very much of zodiac and seven, looking forward to the rest of the series
Only a week away! Pretty much replaces GoT IIRC.Yeah and that theme song, wow. Can't wait for the next series , different characters, must be coming soon?
Halfway through ep2

The problem is that Season 1 pretty much came out of nowhere. "Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in a cop show? Uh okay". It hit like a f***ing volcano. Season 2 was never going to have that much of an impact. The scathing criticism this is copping on the IMDB boards is utterly ridiculous yet sadly not even remotely surprising, so many people just built this show up way too much to the point where for them it has become something it never was and thus nothing will ever please their own unrealistic standards.
Personally I liked it, it was a promising intro that served it's purpose in introducing the new characters and the new setting, that scene where Farrell's, McAdams' and Kitsch's characters meet at the end was great IMO. Now we've reached that point I expect things will really start to progress quickly.
Most of the criticism seems to center around the fact people think the pacing was too slow and that the characters weren't interesting compared to the first season. Personally I don't know what show they were watching last year but the pacing of the first couple of episodes was in no way any faster than what we saw from S02E01, and I don't know how Farrell's character could have had a more interesting introduction tbh. People who are comparing this to S01E01 and saying this doesn't live up to it are just rewriting history IMO.
Also I really like the atmosphere they've created here, obviously it's very different to the New Orleans vibe of S1 but this epsiode really reminded me of that sinister old school noir vision of L.A. Also some of the sound and direction in this episode had a bit of a David Lynch feel to it IMO so I can definitely see the potential for this to get creepy.
