We've had Des for 3 years now, & I think he has finally turned the corner & started playing consistently good footy again....perhaps this deal may turn out for the better, our way, after all.

Jared Brennan has done nothing for Brisbane, bar 3 good games in 3 years, McPhee has been superb for Essendon, espicially last year, culminating in All Australian honours, but Des has certainly been the pick of the bunch this year, his 5 goals last week were fantastic, & when he plays with confidence, look out!
I like his role across half forward, his long leads to space have been tremendous, hopefully he can find a bit of it on the smaller telstra dome on the weekend...a match up of McPhee v headland would be superb!

Don't be silly. McPhee would get way too much space. Would be able to carve us up from the backline.

If McPhee lines up on Pavlich, thats a great matchup for us. Because McPhee's rebound will have been sacrificed for a shutdown job.

If McPhee doesn't lineup on Pavlich expect Webster to man up McPhee. It seems stupid to tag a defender, but it will definately dry up Essendon's run from the backline.

Webster has tagged the rebound defender for the last few weeks and it seems to be working a treat.

Does "The Fiddler" (webster) have the pace to go with McPhee...it seems to me that he is trying to be made into the enforcer in the forward line this year?

I'd have to agree this is a good match up as it would make McPhee accountable. As Des would be more dangerous, as he can kick the goals, on the rebound, watching the no-name back-line kick it over McPhees head to a free Dessy. Hence drying up McPhees rebound from bummers defence. Kinda like an offensive-defensive move. If that makes any sense.

I would have thought McPhee would be the natural choice for Pav. He is one of the few players who is fit enough and tall enough to make a decent effort of it.

Bombers tend to feed off Mcphee's mopping up role. Often he back himself to play loose and take the big defensive mark and set up the rebound.

Playing him on pav gives CC the chance to isolate a playmaker. If pav draws mcphee away from pack marks we can get more value from Meds and Jeff feeding off elvis.

Des running through and Mcphee isolated would suit us fine.

In the washup I think mcphee will take des. Des's job should then be to shut down Mcphee. He too bloody dangerous.

If Bradley is fit, I think he should get a crack at Pavlich. He's got the required pace, height and agility, with the only lacking facet being one on one strength. This wouldn't be much of a problem since most of Pav's marks are taken on the lead, not body on body. Another option is Lucas, but that would mean taking away an attacking option when they're already missing one in Hird.

Sorry to intrude guys,

Kepler actually has a lot more body strength than he looks. Obviously he still has a way to go and will only get bigger and stronger...but he actually has the footy smarts to get his body in the right position.

On the lead is his weakness, he has had a problem playing on the fast leading forwards. He hasn't developed the antisipation someone like Fletcher has at this stage.

This is only my own speculation but McPhee isn't as mobile as last year, perhaps a little bit of OP?

Did you see the Essendon game on Saturday night?
McPhee started the season well against Melbourne, but battled in the last quarter. This started the whole OP rumour.
He then had a couple of quiet games in a row and the rumour continued to snow-ball.
However his last three games have been good and Saturday night he was back to his absolute best, probably the best game at the club.
