Very very good question. If he is so unfit that he cant be at least putting in solid performances in the WAFL, why is he even taking the field? There may be a discrepancy in the quality of the comps but it is still a game of footy.

He has missed a lot of footy. It may be wiser to wait until He has a few games under his belt before making such big calls.

In plugga's "list reality" thread, I suggested that we should delist Blackie (or convince him to retire) if:

a) he can't get his body right and get back out on the ground for Freo (sooner rather than later)

or

b) can't curb his undisciplined behaviour if he does get back out there.



Make or break year for Blackie. Although both he and Belly qualify for the vets list next year for us, so there may be some sort of consideration given there...

I agree its a make or break year at this point just becoz we can't afford to 'carry' players any more.

For years we've hung on to blokes becoz we feel attached to them not becoz they can actually help us find success on the field.

Blacky is a required player if he can get back to playing like last year and esp. the end of 2006. Sometimes tho players bodies just start failing them and they can't get back to that level anymore - i.e. Parker in 2007 (had a great 2006).

He has had surgery on his hip 2 pre-seasons in a row now. I'd imagine that would be the cause of whatever he is going through now.

IMO the two are directly related with Blackie. When he is struggling with fitness he gets frustrated.

Plenty of season left to see if he will turn it around.
