I dont understand why this isn't talked about much by the media or commentary teams? Its a pretty extraordinary situation for a club with this list profile to be talking about premierships and being a contender when its unprecedented for that to actually happen. I feel like the dialog around the club and externally would change if our situation was framed realistically. I wonder if its a case of JL being in his window given his time as coach so its forcing the club to also be in the window even when they arnt yet.

Hilarious when you think how much the VIC media go on about the brave young tigers. The fact we are regularly younger and less experienced is never mentioned.

I reckon Kozzie in the guts is the sell. Him, Bolton and Young rotating through forward and mid, adding class and distinction to what is otherwise a hardworking but generally flairfree midfield unit.

To be clear, I will be over the moon getting Kozzie, just trying to min/Max salary and picks use for list building haha. A core forward quartet of Bolton, Treacy, Amiss and Pickett is certainly set and forget for 6+ years

Yeah, we 100% ARENT getting Atkins, hes just the perfect archetype of the guy I'd add (particularly as an FA) if I could.

One of the Adelaide defenders was trying to rough up Amiss. After Treacy broke them up. I thoroughly enjoyed Treacy letting one of him know he should stand in the hole in front of him. He directed Amiss to position himself in front of him (Treacy), from what I could lip read “stand there, I’ll destroy you” or something like that. He would have pointed 5x to the space in front of him. “Didn’t think so”, was how it ended.

I think the idea is to award the player that embodies the ANZAC spirit of team-ship and camaraderie.

I think its appropriate and symbolic of the player being awarded by honouring the ANZACS rather than a frivolity.

I must admit I hadn't noticed it with Kozzie before all of the rumours about him wanting to come here, but he applies a lot of pressure off the ball as well not just the flashy stuff.

He blocked for Petracca on Thursday night leading to a goal.

He has a lot of backs nervous when he is around including our blokes a few weeks ago.

Pay whatever it takes because he adds another dimension.

We know from last week that he has plenty in the tank to run rampant in the midfield with some deft, difficult to read agility. I was really surprised how well he plays midfield, which was convincing enough to get me bullish on him for next year.

Both Shai and Kozzie solve some midfield problems, such as Johnno and Ras' inconsistency.

On that note, I thought that apart from maybe two blunders, Johnno played well and has improved again this year. His good work goes under the radar because his screw ups for some reason just really seem to stand out.

It is a fine line with adding top end talent vs adding depth.

Would you rather hill and McVee or Pickett?

Our forward line is still lacking a bit of class that Pickett would provide, but I do feel our depth is poor.

What Atkins are you talking about?

You have no idea how tight your salary situation is. Geelong, Collingwood always have spare cap so hopefully we are fine. I don't think we have paid anyone overs.

This is testing my memory but before 2024 port got Hardwick plus 1 more I think.

These tough experience role players make a difference especially in finals.

Ideally you are looking for an on field coach plus toughness.

Thought Johnson was pretty good, got a lot of ball and largely did reasonable things with it. Definitely looked like an AFL player

Not Luke Ryan’s best game, but he suffered from having to play too small thanks to poor Walker being out. The very fast small forward is not his ideal matchup.

Nice to see Darcy winning the ruck against a larger guy; still definitely improvement to go but he looked good.

Switta though, not sure what he was meant to be doing. Anonymous for mine.
