I just don't understand what the point is of this sort of reality show and getting dubious celebrities to appear. It would conceivably work with average Joes who have a dream of opening their own restaurant, or working at one of the best restaurants in Australia. But where's the drama with people who realistically wouldn't gives flying f***, because they're never going to be professional chefs?

I read a couple of years ago, that Gordon Ramsay was going to open one of his restaurants at Crown Casino, Melbourne.

The head chef was going to be picked by doing an Australian series of "Hell's Kitchen", with aspiring chefs looking to run the restaurant, and the winner being awarded the "head chef" role, and Ramsay was going to host.

However, the restaurant at Crown never happened (different stories emerged that either Ramsay or Crown refused to meet their financial obligations to the other), and, coupled with the bad press Ramsay got when he clashed with Tracy Grimshaw in an interview, the series was abandoned.

HK USA works mainly because of Gordon Ramsey.

and the fact there is a chance they never finish service, I remember in one of the earlier seasons a team didn't even get there entree out.

i've watched this intermittently. if it's on i might switch to it but i'm not fussed if i don't get to see an episode... or 3.
watching some of these people in the kitchen, i have to wonder how they have managed to make it through life let alone an episode of this.
