News Help needed - Preview Writers.

Hi Everyone, as I haven't heard from BoxMatrix this year (who did a great job), we are looking for volunteer posters who would like to put their hand up to write previews of matches and as the first game is coming up pretty quickly looking to our expert and very knowledgeable posters on our board.

If you would like to offer, put your name down.

Alternatively if you can't do it every week, I can compile a roster and we can have different posters throughout the year to share the load.

Hopefully I am inundated with volunteers. If not, I am going to start naming names.

You can strike my name off the list, I'm viewed as somewhat pessimistic of our teams chances (especially this year given our off season, trade and negative media) and don't have the analytical expertise of the Box.

My previews would be bluntly honest and some might take umbrage.

However if you were to kindly ask by pm and felt it is required, I'd be happy to oblige, so long as our BF family are happy with that.

I could offer a few up that I think are up to standard but not sure if I'm allowed. Maybe you could do a poll with the posters you view as valid for the task?

Thank you Caringbush for your reply. Not a huge problem with honesty as you see it.

If I am left to do it, I most likely will still question the selection of someone like Mayne, or argue for persisting with Brown, or question the love of Sier that I am sure would ruffle a few magpie feathers.

Bit disappointing so far that no-one else has raised their hand.

Very generous to be accounted among such auspicious company. Like barrackers, I’d have limited capacity but willing to contribute in some minor capacity if needed. A roster might work if a solo champion can’t be identified. We can use 1 of last seasons thread op’s as a template.

Whilst I might have my occasional insight... there are many here who have a better and more rounded knowledge of the game, and follow the others teams more closely than I do.

Still if you get desperate, I will chip in with a review if needed. Just let me know in advance and I’ll do my research

Appreciate your confidence in me GC, but thoughtful, knowledgeable and balanced previews are not my thing.

I think the Pies will win by 10 goals every week, regardless of who we play and who is selected. I am spectacularly one-eyed and am shocked when we lose.

Cheers for the vote of confidence mate but due to a change in work roster, I'm going to be watching a lot of games on replay (likely missing many oppo games) this next 12 months and prob won't have the time either.

Many capable posters on the board sure they can find someone or a few to do it.

Because I have trouble getting to our games (living in Perth) and like to watch from high up in the stands to get the view of team offensive and defensive structures to gauge how the teams match up on each other, rotational changes (at when in game time), team defences without possession, outside set ups with ball (set offensive plays), running patterns etc. etc.

All that is hard to get a read on from the tele before making an as detailed preview of next weeks game, I think this is important and going from the Box's past previews it seemed he was watching our team before the next game from the stands.

Not to mention I'm FIFO so would only be able to attend any game every 2nd week.

Maybe a better preview from one of our posters who regularly attends games to get a read on things we don't see on the tele.

Also posters like Jen2310 and Apples who regularly get training time in (great by those two by the way) too would be worthy and how certain players should stack after a week on the track.

However if really required, happy to do so, I'm sure you won't require my services though.

I would be willing to do one on a roster but it would have to be well into the season. I am no football expert and take little notice of other teams but if I knew well ahead of time which game I had, I could research and come up with something at least readable.

I don't really think you need to be an expert if it's rostered. You can bone up on the other team several weeks ahead and just be yourself in your preview. Nobody is expecting a totally knowledgeable effort - well, maybe they are, but you don't have to give them exactly what they want. I just think it needs to be readable or entertaining, or both, and you try to use the knowledge you have to best advantage. There'll be some posters who will just go TLDR anyway.

I genuinely appreciate the nod! I do have the time to spare, but I can’t justify investing it in this. If someone steps forward and needs some help on the analysis side of things I don’t mind lending a hand if it’s wanted, but that’s about all I’m prepared to commit to.
