Help Save Neil Craig

At the moment Craigy's players are doing their best to save him. Adelaide supporters will be pleased. :thumbsu:

Pity they can't sustain it for 4 quarters. Hmmm, maybe not such a pity.

Amazing how bitter some of those on the Adelaide board are about missing out on Gibbs. Would've felt wrong anyway given Bryce's dad never played for the AFC. At least Russell played close to 400 games for the PAFC. Personally though, I'd be more bitter about trading in Tambling!

Yes save him, people need to get off Craigys back, hes a fantastic coach, they lost Mcleod and Goodwin etc, its not his fault etc! (Sorry Elite Crow :p).

Just spotted this, Ford you bastard:)

I hate losing but sometimes its for the greater good.

On 5aa during the week, someone emailed in stating changing coaches isn't the answer, just look at Port. But what they fail to consider is had Port sacked Choco 2 years ago, you would have been more advanced on your plan and Hardwick would most probably be your coach.

...
Amazing how bad kicking by one team is seen as playing well for the other. (Sydney 6 14 Vs Adelaide's 8 9) :D

I am not yet convinced that Hardwick > Primus.

Agree on both points.

Also given Triggy wants to appoint from within I'm not sure Bickley > Craig. ;)

Here's the thread they are talking about. It's still a good read after all these years. I will add that I asked the question not to undermine Bryce's eligibility but to find out how the rule was being interpreted seeing as they were so sure he was theirs. Really. Porthos, Macca19 and REH were willing contributors to the discussion too.
I will admit that I was entirely happy to undermine Bryce's eligibility.

Your infallible logic has exposed my cunning stunt. I'm Neil Craig too that's why I want him (me) to be saved. And that's why I don't pick Taylor because it's too hard to be both of us at the same time.

Michelangelo Rucci made me do it. It was all his idea.

There was also a Bulldogs supporter who claimed he was immediately firing off the question to their recruiting staff to help out.

Father-son eligiblity ... a question

This is how it started

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3149967

April 25 2005 on the crows board Mr Crow asked how the rule worked. It was a fluke that a few hours earlier Weatherchap ( who occasionally posts on big footy) had popped over and I had looked at the SANFL's 1977 post season official centenary season publication. I posted back then in post 11

4. I have an official SANFL book published in 1977 after the centenary season. It shows Russell Ebert had played 222 by season end and 24 games in 1977, making a total of 198 games at the end of 1976. Russell played 392 games for Port so if the cut of rule was after the 1977 season not before it, Brett would not have qualified under the father son rule. How bizare would that have been.

5. The SANFL for many years, not sure about these days, counted preseason competition/ night games, like the Escort cup and Foundation cup as official games for player total games. An example from the book I mentioned in pt 4. shows Rex Voight and D Holst played 27 games in 1977. Glenelg played 22 + 4 finals games.

then on 9th May 2005 captain ebert started the following thread about Martin Leslie's boys eligibility at

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3219566

In that thread in post #9 I corrected my earlier ascertain that Ebert qualified and worked out that Brett was ineligible

SINCE I POSTED THIS I HAVE WORKED OUT THAT TECHNICALLY BRETT EBERT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ELIGIBLE UNDER THE ABOVE FATHER SON RULE.
Russell played 392-198 =194 games for Port between 1977 and 1997.

I am sure that Ford and I argued about the eligibility in another thread or two - which I haven't book marked -about whether state games and preseason games counted. I said the SANFL counted preseason games in their totals, but under the definition the AFL didn't and stuck to my belief that Ebert didn't qualify and we snuck that past the AFL.

That's why Ford then legitimately started the thread on the crows board on 11 July about Gibbs. The media picked up on that thread ie both Rucci and Capel and the rest is history.

Don't worry, my crows mate still blames me for the crows losing Gibbs. He reminded me about 6 weeks ago when he a BOG type game for Carlton.

Please cows, don't sack the incompe .............. errrrr, wonderful coach, Mumbles, this week.

Would've been OK but for those 3 goals.

It lacked the big shirtfronters on the insipid cows, a bit of Saints physical molestation would have gone down well.

Anyone been tracking the @NeilCraigAFL twitter feed? It is quite entertaining - Rebekah Devlin even reported on it in today's tiser. The crows are trying to get it closed down.

Apparently Ivan Maric tweets him!

I think it is time for a save mumbles rally at the black diamond corner.

The only thing that will save Neil Craig is an insipid performance by our team this weekend. It would be a lot like Choco holding onto his tenure for a year too long.

Looks like the account has been suspended.

He's been posting up to just a minute ago. The account is @NeilCraigAFC (not AFL as I posted).

Some samples:

Alright If I walk now and I take Bicks, then you will most likely get Campo! how do you like them apples! Not so rosey is it

Our game plan was solid tonight and we showed some real signs, we just didn't execute as well as we should and some timely errors cost us

At least I looked good in my Polo

bulldozed, another word I love

Cadel Evans, another magnificent Craigy success story... And people say I can't develop young talent!?

Game dissected, as I thought game plan and coaching was sound, execution was poor, I've still got it

ever considered coaching @warrentredrea I think our forward line could do with more bowing
