What's the deal with Henderson's knee?

It looked pretty bad and people at the game with radio's were saying that it's an ACL.

Is this true? There doesn't seem to be any info on this or am I just missing it like I do when I go to the fridge and it's sitting right in front of me?

But he didn't come back on.

Will he play this week?

He would not have been on the bike if it was a serious injury.

You'll have to wait for the injury report to be released later in the week for further info if there is any, but I can assure you that if it was a serious injury there is absolutely no chance he'd be on the bike during the game.

Think Ratten said post match it was just a cork and only a precaution him not going back on.

They said after the game on SEN that they would have scans today to see what was going on. I think their thoughts were that it was a corkie on the knee or something and that he could potentially miss 1-2 weeks. I hope not. Love watching him out there.

After the injury, I was pretty much shit scared for Hendo, considering I probably cursed him when I said good luck to him before the match in the carpark :p. Anyway, I pulled my phone out for the radio, and the Doc said on the radio at three quarter time that it was a really bad corky right under the thigh/just above the kneecap, but it wasn't anything serious like an ACL. However, he was on the bike and attempted to shake it off by doing a little bit of a jog, but he couldn't free it up. Basically touch and go for this week he said.

Quad corky. Really doubt he'll be able to get up for this week. - Shame 'cause he's our only decent forward without Waite.

And how Simpson didn't pop his AC ligament I'll never know.

Yeah, when I saw that for the first time, I thought he would be having a long stint on the sidelines.....Thank God it was nowhere near as bad as it looked!

I'm still a little scared for Simmo, wasn't there a past case of a player finishing a game with an ACL without realising because you don't experiance that much pain?

Yep, Mitch Brown at WC did his ACL a few years back in a pre season match but played out the game. Only realised after the game or next morning when it puffed up.

I'd say it would have been announced on a website by now though.

Paper said it was a corked thigh above the knee, today. Will be monitored during the week. If he does not come in Fisher has to no choice!!

Wasn't there also a case of a Rugby player waking up next morning with a huge hangover and finding Vaseline up his rectum and another guy in the shower.......

.. but that's another story..

Idiots.
Things to look for re serious injury at the game:
  1. Do they assess him on the sidelines or go stright down the race. If the medico's think (either from seeing it or from the initial talk to the player) that it could be serious they won't assess it under prying eyes - ala Kreuzer.
  2. Do they attempt to treat something? The test for an ACL tear is > 95% accurate. They won't try to treat if they know it's gone. He would be straight onto crutches and often straight to hospital for a scan.
  3. Does the player do a fitness test? Again, like with 2, they will exclude all serious injury, and if so, see how functional the player is.
Hendo was assessed on the sidelines initially before going down the race. They attempted to treat him laying on his side mobilising the knee joint (at this point I relaxed significantly), then they went down the race to strap above the knee (again no major issue there) before doing a fitness test which he clearly failed.

May miss a week but didn't look to be too serious.

Most ACL hurt like a bugger for 5-10 mins and then often they will feel fine.

Plenty of cases in Ammo's where guys hobble off, then after sitting for 10 mins think they're actually O.K.......do some straight line running on the boundary line, feel o.k.........then get out into the action, twist, and go down like a stuck pig.

Other than lack of effort, I wasn't aware of any issues Simmo had?

I had lunch at the new cafe at the CFC yesterday. The whole playing group walked past me as they came out of a team meating on their way to locker room.

Both henderson and simpson had strapping on the knee but they both were walking freely and without a limp.

Although this does not rule out any 2-3 weeek injuries, it does suggest that a major injury is unlikely.

To be fair we sit on the complete opposite side of the interchange and all that could be seen was a group of people crowding around him then after a while Hendo going into the rooms. Hard to diagnose someone from 100m away.
