He comes up with some funny stuff, but he needs to be kept on a leash. Fair enough the doubles isn't that interesting, but it's not the Henri Show. Talking over the points about stuff completely unrelated to the match is hugely irritating.

I think he'd be okay with a commentary partner who kept him under control and provided substantive analysis, rather than just egging him on. He won a French Open doubles title; he could add a lot of insight to this match if he wanted to.

Rubbish, IMO doubles provides some of the most exciting matches of the tournament.

There's more to tennis than long baseline rallies. Well constructed doubles strategy, with pinpoint passing shots and crisp volleys, is excellent to watch.
How is it fun? Points end way too quickly for my liking and everything is played and won at the net. There is a reason why the arena is usually only half full during a doubles match.

It's a different kind of game. Reflexes are paramount, playing the angles far more important. Less unforced errors because it's the quick and the dead. Points aren't only won at the net - in fact, the teams that win titles are usually the ones with the best passing shots. Tactics don't emerge over the point, it's about set plays and variations, and how well the team communicates.

It's less glamorous, sure. You don't get the big, expansive plays that end up on the highlight reels. But it's an extremely tactical game with a lot of high quality play amongst the specialists. I love the slams because it's the one chance you get to see really high quality doubles.

They just confirmed he's doing the Tsonga match!

Horrible choice, he'll be completely biased towards Tsonga, hopefully Courier can keep him on a leash.

But I guess anything is a better option than JA.

Hopefully he is used in small doses and i reckon he will probably do the after match interview which would be classic.

Cant wait for him to come on tomorrow though

The post match interview? No chance, Courier is the king of interviews.

Absolutely ruined a ripper game of tennis tonight, snoring in the deciding tiebreaker, I mean come on. I dearly hope he isn't even considered to do the Tsonga/Djokovic game.

To be fair it was a really crap match. Just because a match is close doesnt mean it is quality (Eg- Davydenko v Verdasco). Most of the rallies lasted 2 or 3 shots and nobody was hitting decent returns.

Seven are gunna milk this one dry.

I fear the same, they probably think that having him on (being a great tennis character) will deflect the negative attention on their overall coverage.

I loved him in the Tsonga match as it was great hearing someone be more emotive during the game, rather than Sandy "stating the bleeding obvious" Roberts (ie: reacting to the tennis play, as we would in our lounge rooms wowwwwwwwwww what a shot etc :D :p).

It's going to backfire if Tsonga doesn't play well, he might start snoring into the mic again :p

I don't think it's very fair to compare it to Davydenko/Verdasco. The winners v unforced errors ratio in the doubles match was actually pretty good - and you never get long rallies in doubles.

Should be great for the Tsonga match, him barracking for him actually makes it funny. I loved last night how he was saying that everyone went home because the match was boring.
He'd be great with Jim Courier.

This guy is great value in small doses, like in the snippets on the channel seven website. During the doubles yesterday he was starting to irritate and if he is given any extended time for the match tonight I think the novelty will wear out completely.

7 now featured him on their news. It was like the 4th or 5th story in.

**** they know how to ruin a good thing. They've got inside his head now and it will seem forced.

to be honest i find his blatant bias towards Tsonga quite refreshing. I prefer that he is open, as apposed to those Aussie commentators who pretend they are professional yet it is blatant that they are supporting the Aussies. It makes their favoritism more noticable and embarrassing
