"The Kangaroos have perpetued a fraud. Why did they not inform the general public that Jason McCartney intended to make only a smybolic return after he advised them some days earlier that he planned to retire? To trade on the Bali bombings in order to win a game of football match is sickening. The vision of Kellaway gingerly tackling him in the final quarter is proof in the point. David Thompson StKilda"

I would like to add, couldnt agree more! (now well see if certain people like me posting in here, but posting THE TRUTH!)

But this will be fun.

Herald-Sun 50/50 column.......now there's a source for informed comment.

I suppose it is better then relying on USC for a reliable source... I can see the headlines in tomorrows Age already... "informed source calls Kangas Frauds..."

just wait for it...

Peruka,

keep coming up with this sort of comedy mate and you can come on here as often as you like!

Posting a newspaper troll from 50/50 and thinking we're dumb enough to be offended... classic!!!!

:D :D :D

The 50/50 comment should be:

"The Richmond Football Club have perpetued a fraud. Why did they not inform the general public that they are a pack of soft pack-riders who only intended to make only a smybolic return to the top 8, before choking and returning to 9th position which is a place that they normally only occupy after Rd 22. To trade on the premise that they are the real deal is sickening. The vision of Kellaway gingerly tackling in the final quarter is proof in the point. Rooboy 34 - BigFooty"

Here's the most recent post by this fine specimen of an Essendon supporter (Peruka) on the Essendon Board...

your mob haven't exactly made any of us welcome when we've posted on your board.

100% correct. And may I ask why my post was deleted on the "ESSENDON BOARD"???

Remember Dons, bring the brown money for this rabble of a club that wont be here in 2 years time. Emotion and luck wont get you over this week. Your club should ask kleenex to become sponsors, bloody tear jerkers! Oh and the shaved ape rocca back this week or is he to busy going to speech theorapy school? Off back to your own 9 person board. And the person who took my post off, SCREW YOU!

heck heads like Peruka give inbreds a bad name!
:D

i do believe Jason definately cashed in on the whole Bali thing. Sure its a massive part of his life but it was done to death. As for that last match though i thought his announcement at the end was pretty special. Apart from probably Stewie Loewe handing his jumper over at the end of his last game we dont get to see emotional things like that in footy anymore!

Cashed in???

Put your hand up if you were a footballer before the bali bombing?
now put your hand up if you had over 50% of your body burnt and spent 4 months in the burns unit.

how does he cash in on it???

You're kidding right??

This is a troll surely??

Cheers

I think Spidey meant "cashed in" to mean that he (jason) allowed the media circus beat up to be as advantageous to North Melbourne and to some degree himself as possible rather than meaning there was some sort of dollar value in it for him.

Its true so much as there was a LOT of very positive media reports on McCartney and the Roos because of it

BUT

that does not take anything away from the fact that it was still a great thing for football and for Jason McCartney as Spidey also commented on

Can't believe that you are trying to use the Herald Sun as the source to add credibility to your contention. LMAO.

I think there is a greater fraud going on, that is you being part of the human race. Only a bunch of monkies could come up with garbage like this.

Next time you are given last rites in hopital and told by everyone you are lucky to be alive, ever go through the emotion of being told something like you will never be able to play AFL football again then perhaps you can give an opinion that isn't utter dribble.

Jason's story is not one of milking a cow. It is about overcoming utter disaster. It is about not letting terrorists win by living in fear. It is about being lucky to be alive when many others were not so lucky. In part, Jason came back to play football for all those people that did not get the chance to return.

His actions brought alot of media attention but also brought alot of comfort to the families of those that lost love ones. They lost their fathers/mothers, brothers/sisters, sons/daughters, but Jason represented that some good came out of such a terrible tragedy. He did not ask for it, it was thrust upon him. He received the messages from everyone, not the other way round.

His intention was always to return and keep playing AFL football. It was only when he injured his calf that he decided the toll was too great on his body, that his dream was not something that he could fullfil for the long-term. He spent many weeks playing in the VFL, and he earned his spot in the team, especially against Richmond who were capable of fielding a very tall team.

He could not rebuild his life fully and return to where he was before the accident, but he wanted to at least deal with the pain and discomfort for one last game, as long as he earnt his spot. Even in his broken and battered state he is a thousand times the man you will ever be.

He told the club his intentions and he had the club's full support in retiring if he was physically unable to deal with the strain of AFL football. The club decided it was best that only the senior players knew about his retirement, because the young players would struggle to deal with it, as they also struggled in other emotional games against Carlton and Adelaide earlier this year.

Jason had earnt his place in the team, he was ready earlier but was forced to spend the time in the VFL proving his fitness and ability to play, which was far more than Brad Ottens had done to earn his spot in the team for Richmond who hadn't played a senior game this season.

Jason's return was a tribute to all those that never returned, the families of those that were touched by the tragedy were invited to the game, there was special tribute to the other football clubs and codes that lost players and team mates.

Alot of people would of come to see him return irrespective of who we played. As we have greater control of events during our home games it was only logical that his return coincided with one of our home games.

The Kangaroos also sold merchandise specific for this Bali tribute with ALL funds raised being donated to the survivors of the tragedy. What has your club or any other club done for any of the survivors? Clubs in a far better financial situation than us.

The Kangaroos did not promote the game as Jason'r return in order to profit from it. Critics such as Sam Newman and Brian Taylor who had reservations that the game could become to focused on Jason and his return applauded the club for its handling of it and not over-promoting it.

As to the game, Jason only had two possessions of note, one was very much a contested mark and the other was one where it was line-ball whether he had clear possession of the ball. Kellaways was probably focused on not giving away a soft free kick in front of goals in the dying minutes of the game. As it was, a dribbled kick got out from the tackle and the rest is history.

If you want to look at soft performances all you have to do is watch a replay of last week's Bombers game where you get to see four entire quarters of soft efforts by a team living in the past. The Tigers went in hard with us for four quarters and it was a terrific and close game.

We, as a club have an good record against Richmond of late, and I do not think we really needed any help to get over the line. The reason we won is mainly due to reducing Richardson to one goal and Ottens to two, and they were lucky to end up with that many between them. We played well and deserved to win.

The reason you and the other parasite complain and suspect the worst of Jason is because given the situation you and that other imbecile would of done exactly what you accuse Jason of doing. It is easy to live in a glass house and throw stones when you are just a couch potatoe and armchair expert of absolutely nothing.

You are just a pathetic simpleton who just can't stand to see a good news story. Nobody profited from this disaster, a few extra people probably came to see the game but his retiring is a greater tragedy to those of us who support the club and care about those who suffered in Bali.

Its easy for gutless wonders like you that have no heart to sit back and write utter garbage. Maybe if your IQ was higher than that of dirt you would think before you write such garbage.

You came here looking to Troll, and you got what you wanted.

Get the violins out mate! My heart is breaking you LOSERS!
