on the scott lee one he may become eligible with the afl proposing scrapping the 100 game rule to just a single game, ofcourse hasnt been confirmed yet but if it does he would become eligible for us.
I really hope the rule will NOT change to 1 game. If it does the Crows using their last pick should always recruit a 'has been' that has a son. Play them for the obligatory 1 game then - sayonara, see your son in 15 years time.

Bugger heritage round.

I say this every year and as DT has said, we should be proud of our heritage, look what we have achieved. Who cares if have not been around since day dot, we have achieved more than some Victorian sides. Let them have their mutual "back in my day...round"

well if port get to wear the prison bars we should be able to wear the state guernsey, as this is a symbol of the SANFL were we originate from

I don't believe that ANY club should be allowed to wear a State guernsey. Victorians play for Non-Vic sides and vice versa.

A State guernsey is a State guernsey for State games. Simple. It is so much more than just a guernsey to be rolled out for the AFL's Heritage concept. Could you imagine how Ted Whitten were to react if a Vic side wore the BIG V and South Australians were running around in it!

Thats exactly what it is. They should change the name of it to 'VFL Round'

The days when the Victorian teams dominated. Oh how that has changed. Its a beautiful thing :thumbsu:

Maybe we should ask Malcolm Blight... did he not wear the Big V?

Lets go even further, is not every year the 'state' guernsey given to the SANFL representative team, a team which reguarly includes non South Australians?

Correct- but in STATE games. Certainly a grey area. Just opens yet another can of worms in regard to "Heritage" round.

Put simply- the AFL aren't really giving a rats for any of the non-vic sides when it comes to heritage round.

The jumper is used at SANFL, SA Amateurs and formerly the AFL.

Anyway, that's why at SANFL level, we don't call it a State match... we refer to it as a State Leagues match.

Still, your point was made redundant. You claimed that victorians wearing the South Australian guernsey would be a disgrace. Its been proven that Victorians have worn the South Australian guernsey, with no disgrace.

My understanding is that Scott Lee played over 200 games for Central and therefore any sons are allocated to Port under father/son ?

I've never had a problem with Victorians donning the SA tri-colours these days, because they're not representing SA as a whole.

They're representing the league that I have followed religiously for 12 years... the SANFL. If it was Origin, it wouldn't happen because players would go back to their proper territory.

In which case, theres no problems with the Crows using it ;)

Are we going to find a way of participating in the heritage round this year? Has the club made any public comment on the situation?
Does anyone know? Despite the obvious pro victorian slant, I quite like the concept, and its always interesting to see the different strips.
How about a completely different guernsey, red with the SANFL logo on it with a yellow V similar to the state's Yellow/Blue V but one colour and a blue ring around the centre like in the controversial "state" guernsey we wore previously had?
Or a completely different guernsey, red with a large SANFL logo featuring prominantly on the front in the centre? OR replace the club logo on last years heritage round guernsey with the SANFL logo?

heres a thought for heritage round, anybody remember the 1996 pre-season jumper??
:thumbsu:
Great idea!

I think DT said it previously, we should stick to our own history not the SANFL clubs or the State team... Heritage round is lame, only really suits the Victorian teams, Freo and Port.

I'm just going on what a mate said the other day, but he is sure Scott Lee's son doesnt qualify for either side under the F/S rule. His games of CDFC apparently werent within the qualifying period for Port, and he didnt play enough games for the Crows.

I'd be suprised if the AFL with its latest ruling on the F/S rule have left a window for either SA club to draft anyone under the rule. I mean that was the sole intension of their latest review wasnt it, to make sure no SA or WA team has a chance to get a player via the grandfather/son rule.

I'll see if I can confirm it though.

I don't agree with wearing a state jumper (bit of a respect for those who earnt it kind of thing, might be pedantic but thats life), but I would love to see the crows celebrate a major event in the SANFL in the 70's. Maybe Sturt as they won the most 70's flags, including the famous '76 (but id prefer to see Sturt recognised for the 60's). North Adelaide maybe for '71, '72, and their champions of Australia title in '72 over Carlton, Barrie Robran being an AFL HOF legend kind of thing (thinking about it I think I like this one better).

Basically something to recognise the clubs, rather than trying hard to not recognise any single clubs contribution for fear of offending some old bastard that went for Norwood and abandoned his club long ago (not intimating anything).

That would be how to recognise the SANFL and its respective clubs.

Would hate to see that happen personally.

Also think the State guernseys should be off limits as they are an earned privilege above and beyond club football.

We should just wear our original 1991 strip and the AFL should continue to get a kick in the arse for creating concepts the majority of the non-Victorian clubs can't properly participate in.

Reluctantly agree with dt.
