He nearly choked with the best of them, shame on him for letting down the great Aussie sportmen's tradition

Rafter & the Shark will be none too pleased

It should have been over in three.

The biggest thing that came out of this match is that Hewitt has a weakness: the forehand return on serve. Shalcken targeted and persisted with serving to Hewitt's forehand side and Hewitt hit unforce error after unforce error.

Come on Little Llyeton!
Smash that pom :D

Even the Hewitt haters have to admit that his running foward shot the make it 30-40 in the last game was pretty exception stuff. Wouldn't be surprised if he won it now. Henman has a thing for stuffing up the semi at Wimbledon....

Good win to Hewitt.
Anything can happen in these Finals but he is certainly looking the Champion.

He got ripped off big time in the 3rd set tie break. Schalker's baseline hit was called out so Hewitt just let it go and then the main umpire over ruled and called it in - point to Schalker!

The thing about Hewitt's game is it is all one dimensional. He will play baseline rallies until the cows come home. Doesn't come to the net, doesn't play drop shots. Has a fair bit of trouble putting his opponent away too because he puts so much topspin into his shots that it gives the opponent more time to get to the ball. Schalker, in contrast was ripping his baseline winners hard and low and Hewitt had no chance to get to them. First serve is a worry too. Didn't get too many of those in last night.

Still, he got the win and if he can get past Henman it should be no worries in the final. Good luck to the little bugger.:)

Another great match. Similar style players with completely different temperments. Schalken is just ice cold, no emotion but he played a great match and Hewitt was lucky to get out of it in the end.

Hewitt's return of serve isn't as great as what some commentators would ahve you believe (I'm talking to you Newk). He has great groundstrokes but his actual return is frequently short. That said, he will lift against Henman as he loves a target and plays well against an incoming volleyer.

I think it will be a great game, serve volleyer vs baseliner and with Lleyton coming off a long encounter it could be very close. I think Lleyton will probably get up in the end courtesy of Henman's glass jaw.

Bloody oath.
You don't make decisions like that in tiebreakers.
Especially when the ball was on the line!
