About time they took the voting away from the umpires - they really have no idea!

There is a lesson in this for Hird. Hope you lose the Brownlow by 1 vote and spend the rest of your life wishing you didn't abuse the umpires that week

Obviously had no influence on the final result to Judd, but the 'umpiring controversy' days before the match should of had no impact on their Brownlow votes they gave out that night.

34 possessions (15 in the final quarter), 8 clearences and 2 goals (including the match winner) deserves at least 1 vote - not even the most egotistical Essendon hater couldn't disagree with his influence that night.

There has been talk that the umpires confer after each quarter so that they dont just give votes to whoever is fresh in their mind after a strong last quarter. Maybe thats why they didnt give him votes because his last quarter in that match was awesome - i think he had 15 touches.

The McLaren factor clearly had an impact on him getting no votes.

Cmon guys, Hirdy could of got 60 touches that night.

He was never going to poll votes for that game after his comments.

But he was definetly best on ground.
