Hodge is probably the best player in the comp atm

Hahahah, coming from a Hawthorn supporter, typical. Hodge is a good player, but is nowhere near the best in the AFL, he is a bit overated in my opinion. Also, i can't believe all the Hawks suporters who have jumped back on the bandwagon after they beat Carlton, they think they can win the premiership !!!!! surely they are joking ???

On Hodge being the best player in the comp?

NO they aren't

On them being a chance to win the flag?

NO they aren't

:D

14 pages? This has reached 14 ****ing pages? Geeeezus K. Rist.

I will now start a thread entitled "Mark Blake is probably the best ruckman in the comp this year", then Geelong supporters will hopefully agree with me while anyone else will quite rightly laugh themselves stupid. Or I would, if I had no imagination whatsoever.

That seems to be the MO around here these days; make banal statement about player x that adds precisely nothing to the forum ecology, watch supporters of player x's team agree with banal statement, witness other supporters figuratively shake their heads. Rinse, repeat.

Mate, he simply stated that Luke Hodge is probably the best player in the comp atm. While most would agree that it's slightly off the mark, the thread is still valid, Hodge has had a tremendous season, to suggest otherwise is blind. Mark Blake, Luke Hodge? Good one.

Plus I think you'll find that the majority of the 14 pages is filled with dross from opposition supporters (namely Geelong and Carlton) who haven't considered the topic but rather noticed the poster.

So we're picking the best player in the league from week to week are we?? Hodge played better than Ablett and Judd in round 9 so he's the best in the league? I couldn't imagine any other player having more brownlow votes than Ablett to this point... (paying $3.75 for a win is insane!). It's interesting the rubbish some fans can conjure up, especially when their team is playing soulless football.

This thread is rubbish.

Rioli is a small forward/midfielder. He's both.

Aaron Joseph gets used on the small forwards. Ablett is a small forward, as well as a midfielder.

Hodge is a tough centreman, therefore not the kind of opponent Aaron Joseph gets.

Surely not that hard to understand?

Once again HodgePodge has painted himself into a corner, and once again the wild scramble to escape serves only to make matters worse.

I'd have Hodge at Melbourne anyday. But if it was a choice between him and Ablett I'd take Ablett. Doesn't make Hodge a poor player simply an opinion which is what we're all giving here. Surprise surprise not everyone agrees.

Not at all - my nephew also has Aspergers as indeed does my business partner who is one of the most intelligent people I've met..

Here's a textbook definition.
Asperger's syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder, and people with it therefore show significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

Can you see the correlation between this and HodgePodge's obession with Luke Hodge (and conversley Chris Judd).

Anyway, just trying to have a bit of a laugh - no offence intended :)

No worries.:thumbsu:

Cheers.

This thread is rubbish.

Perhaps the thread title is a bit misleading. If the purpose of this thread was to discuss Hodge as the premier player in the comp thus far then it's a fair topic. While I don't necessarily agree, it doesn't mean that it isn't worthy of discussion.

Since the concept of Hodge as a tough footballer makes you erupt in laughter I gather your mind is made up regardless of the actual football being played by Hodge.

ablett, judd, riewoldt, pavlich, brown, hayes, scarlett and bartel are better than hodge imo

hodge 8th
Three little letters.. A.T.M.

Over the course of their careers maybe, but at the moment - this season as a whole - not even close.

Debateable between pav ablett and hodge who is the best. I personally think Pav would be number 1, with hodge/ablett 2nd.

Riewoldt and Brown would be in contention but for injuries.

Hodge is having his best season, but his inability to use that form to generate team success would not have him in the same category as Pavlich this year. Pav is play as well as Hodge, but is winning games for his club, not just earning applause for being honourable in defeat

What makes me laugh is HodgePodge labeling Ablett as a midfielder/small-forward, while Hodge is a 'tough' centreman. Like this 'tough' label really means a thing when comparing a players ability??

I've got to keep reminding myself that 13/14yr olds are posting this rubbish on here... it always slips my mind.

That's just the way the two players go about it.

Ablett isn't an in and under player. Don't quote me his contested possessions either. They don't necessarily show the way a player plays the game.

Pavlich would be the best player in the comp so far this season. I would have to say closely followed by Barlow then Judd and Ablett. I wouldn't have Hodge in the top 10 at this stage.
