Hey guys, not sure if this is true but i just heard on SEN 1116 that we're going to play one home game at the Gold Coast for the next 2 years.

Carlton and St kIlda have also done this deal

It sucks that the bulk of our own fans have to miss out on going to a game. Not to mention a much smaller crowd at the game. I thought we were making profits these days

Why would you hope this. We were 4th in regards to crowd numbers this year. Knowing its Terrys final year of a contract you would think every game we have in Melbourne the better. If this is March's doing he can piss off to the goldcoast while the rest of tigerland remains in Melbourne.

Bc I live on the Gold Coast and we havent even played Brisbane up here since 2006. To see 2 games up here in the same season would make me very happy:thumbsu:

And it would obviously be more profitable for the club, otherwise why do it?

We would be getting something good out of it, no doubt.

I think this is good for the club. We need to bring in more revenue streams, although it would have been a lot better if it was against an interstate side.

If this is true, we better be well compensated.

-plenty of cash
-fewer away games vs interstate teams
-more home games at the MCG
-Gold Coast game televised on FTA
-free entry to an extra away game in Melbourne

If we get all of that, I will not be furious.

It is happening.

It is in todays Courier Mail.

We will get an extra $260,000 out of it.

The home game taken from us will be one from the Tesltra Dome.

I for one, Living in QLD am excited about this. Its been along time since we played here but when we do, we win......

One thing concerning is in the same article they mention that we still dont have a major sponcer for the 2009 season, so this is an attempt to gain National exposure.

thats very cool from a selfish view point. Future sister in law is moving to the Gold Coast after Christmas , so can go up and have a weekend away, watch the tigers roar and get severly pissed.

Why do we have to play up at the Gold Coast, just because North Melbourne have decided to play most there home games here in Melbourne.
This is wrong that we have to give one of our home games here Melbourne just play at Carrarra. The crowd numbers will not be great.
Come on AFL let us play our home games at the MCG. Thats our home ground.

As mentioned the game will be a game that we would have played at TD, not sure against who, but I would hate it to be against the Lions, perhaps we could play Port up there. It will be worth at least $250k to the clubs bottom line.

Very true. If it ticks all of that boxes than I'm happy.

$260,000 can probably buy 2-3 more recruiters or something or more development stuff or gym equipments and maybe a really good player.

God I hope not, especially after all the grief I've given to Hawthorn fans for selling home games.

Realistic Tiger : I have smashed the Hawk's about this subject as well ,

What's going on , if we have to play another Vic club up on the Gold Coast it should be worth more then 400 k for Richmond more like 800 k ..... fair enough < dockers>port> but surely we worth more then 400 k for these clubs.

Next year we will make a bigger profit ...... when we play finnals..

Garry March whats his back ground ... Can someone tell me ?

We dont even have a major spoonsor next year ?

My only disappointments with this are that up until a couple of months ago I was living 45mins drive from carrara, and that North was getting $400K a game up there. Why only $260K for us???

It's "expected net financial revenue" Disco.

So I assume that's an estimation after relevant costs and company tax is taken out?

We are definitely getting 400K according to the Australian but the $260000 is their estimation for net revenue.
