IMO this has got to be one of, if not the worst, start to a season in relation to injuries, suspensions and big names underperforming. So list here how bad you run.

Injuries:
Lucas – 12 weeks
Hall – 7 weeks
Thornton – 6 weeks
Drummond – 6 weeks
Cornes – 3 to 4 weeks
Brown – 1 week
Symes – 1 week

Gamble – 1 week

Underperformers:
Jonathon Brown - Ave 64
Beau Waters - Ave 71
Nathan Jones - Ave 68
Hamish Mcintosh - Ave 73
Ricky Dyson - Ave 60ish

Could be wrong with the amount of weeks missed, just did it off the top of my head.

interesting thread.

injuries play a big part in DT.
how do people work around this?

i am of the belief, that by targeting players who rarely miss games is the way to go. sure, it's not full-proof. (hey man, it's a contact sport isn't it?:p). but i feel this pays off in the long run.

consecutive gamestreaks are of great interest to me. :thumbsu:

I have had a decent run with these things:
Injuries
Cornes
Symes

Underperformers:
Dyson

-INJ: Brown, Chad, Symes, Riewoldt, Lucas, Gibbs, T.Tuck (very unfortunate timing for Tuck.... a few more weeks would have been gold!!)
-SUSP: Gamble
-UNDERPERF: Brown, Dyson (gone now!:))

Pfeiffer (dropped at a bad time).

I agree. That was extremely inconvenient last week. Had Proud & SDT covering Cornes & Symes but Pfieffer being dropped forced me to cop a zero (didn't want to trade any of my non-playing backs). Hope he's back Round 8, and that both Proud & SDT hold their spots at least another week or two, until Chad and/or Symes get back.

I agree. That was one of the primary reasons I got Lucas and avoided Bradshaw! :( Brown and Riewoldt are the only ones on my list with an injury history, and Riewoldt's latest is just bad luck. Kornes' super-resilience (touch wood) was a primary factor in me picking him up a couple of weeks ago.

Pav hasnt missed sine 2001.
Always my first picked

Dyson has averaged more than previously and ras risen in price. So although he didn't end up the super bargain many expected, he's hardly been an underperformer...

Nobody picked Dyson on previous averages. He was picked on the basis of his "amazing" pre-season and his massive scores in the NAB. Given that, I think he has severely underperfomed. Houli was cheaper than him at the start of the season.

I don't have any stats on any other games pre-season, but he scored a 101 and 65 in the NAB, which given the way many teams select and play NAB is not really a standout. To call him an underperformer is probably incorrect, he's been relatively solid, but he doesn't really show any potential of scoring even close to 100 in the real season.

He is what he is, and that's a good mid level player who was cheap enough to be a 6th mid and spend elsewhere, with the goal of upgrading in the future. I believe hes provided that given he's actually made money.

I'd say 100 points in shorter NAB games IS a standout score.

He's been outperformed by players that cost around 1/3 his price. If you selected Dyson for his 22, 45, 47 & 52 scores (out of 7 matches) and the $32k he's made, and you're satisfied with those scores/profits, good luck to ya!! We probably just have different standards/expectations.

I'm not saying I'm happy with him, I'm only arguing the point that he hasn't underperformed. He was always going to be traded by most people who got him, he's made money to do that. If he'd underperformed he'd be avergaing 40 something and losing money.

Injuries:
Jetta 4+ weeks
C. Cornes 2-3 weeks
Hartlett 2 weeks
Raines 4 weeks
Schneider 3 weeks
Le Cras 2 weeks
Dew 4 weeks
T. Tuck 4 weeks

Not getting a game:
Bowden 4 weeks
Toovey 2 weeks
Polo 6 weeks (midfielders are doing OK injury-wise, so he's only still there because my forwards and backs have got so bad I'm lining up for 2 zeros)

Suspension:
Hartlett 2 weeks

Underperformers:
Bowden
Swallow (yeah, I don't know what I was thinking)
Gram
