That draft was poor early but plenty of late gems we managed to overlook - i know it's easy in hindsight but our recruiting strategy was way off when we completely missed out on all of Rischitelli, Tuck, Hudson, S.Fisher, Buchanan, Peake, Dyson and LeCras - all picked up after pick 40.

Thankfully, we've finally thrown some extra $$$$$ into the RD since then, and also replaced Shane O'Sullivan as the RM, and also got Shane Rogers into the club as well.

Regardless - the point is we blew our picks. Got either journeymen with limited or no ability or the younger player we did get - Kenna - was hopeless.

I remember at the time we had such a weak list that we thought we'd pick ready made players but we were too pessimistic on the draft. If we had hunted harder we may have got a couple of those guys. None of them are stars but all could've been valuable contributors.

Hudson could have been our best ruckman for years.
Rischa has huge upside and potential.
Buchanan's a hard premiership player.
Tuck's an underrated tagger.
Sam Fisher would have been perfect for our backline.
Peake and Dyson could both have been handy.
LeCras - ok i misread his name.

It's easy in hindsight but the fact we couldn't even get one of these guys shows how flawed our strategy was. We should've kept punting and punting on youth and backed our ability to find hidden gems instead of recycling Ricky Motts.

I'm not happy with losing, being down the bottom, being the laughing stock of the AFL, but what i meant was i'm happy to have the kids we do have now.....without the hard times we wouldn't have them.

Turn back the clock and sure things could be different, but we are where we are and that is with the best young list around and i wouldn't change that....and add in Judd!!!

Happier and more successful times ahead, and how sweet will it be to be putting some of the crap we copped right back on other supporters!!!
