How deep can we cut?

We're relying on Naitanui and a lot of growth from within as it stands. Growth I just don't see as it stands. We had an opportunity to turn a page by letting LeCras and Mackenzie walk out as they were out of contract but we didn't do it. Pointless keeping them on. Two moves that would have made perfect sense.

Mackenzie is going to **** the backline up. Playing Barrass, McGovern and Mackenzie makes us too big. If he's depth, Schofield would have sufficed given he was still contracted. Weak as piss move out of ten by the club. Expensive depth or a slow AF backline.

LeCras is so far past it. We are one of if not the worst team for defensive pressure. Forward pockets are meant to be the barometers of this. Brought pressure once over the past two years against Geelong this season. He'll play every game he's deemed fit, if they couldn't drop him due to form the last two years, they wont drop him next year.

These were the two cuts that were there and made sense. They couldn't do it. The club has zero kahunas any more. Even talking to my gran she thinks LeCras been bad and she's the member that the Eagles as a club are scared of pissing off. The only solace in these moves is that they better be two of our list changes next year.

Mackenzie is an idiot accepting a one year deal. Maybe he didn't get any interest elsewhere, but if he did WOW what a **** up. Surely he should have taken an offer for 2-3 years at another club. Not only did he **** up but so did the club if there was interest elsewhere.

You went too easy on what I suspect is a troll account liam123. I would have asked who the hell is McGuiness?
I just figured he had rocks in his head with that spelling but your probably right

Edit: I'm personally in no position to pick on other people's spelling and grammar as I get super lazy on BF

From memory Mckenzie Barrass and Schofield played at East Perth. Wellingham didnt back up what he did in 2015/16 . Butler and Nelson , Cole werent consistent for the smaller defender role and yet our backline was our strength. You cant chuck everyone out. Rotham is still too young. You cant just draft a defender and expect AFL in their 1 st year. Just calm down and have a Bex.

I still dont know what a troll is.

Can only think the club wanted to use Schofield as trade since Mckenzie is worth nothing.

Pretty happy with the end number, shame about who was on the list.
Someone at the club should be held accountable for Tom Lamb. Pick 32 on the list 3 years - doesn't give a lot of hope for all our 2nd round picks we have this season.
Wellingham had his moments but overall a disappointment that didn't improve our side. We used a first rounder for him didn't we?
We need a special draft this year or it's another season lost.

- Lecras - Has to go. He's been a great player for the club but he's cooked. Hopefully this is obvious to all.
- Masten - Trade without hesitation if someone actually wants him. Retain if we are stuck with his contract. Delist if we aren't.
- Schofield - Trade Block for sure (I think there will be some interest). Assess value to trade/retain for depth.
- Wellingham - If they are being serious, he goes...but considering he was just recalled for a final, I think he'll stay.
- Hill - Clearly gone.
- Giles - I would assume also gone.
- Mackenzie - Retain. Showed enough to suggest he can still play and Barrass is not quite there yet.

The other name not yet mention is Andrew Gaff. Put him on the trading block and see if there is a mediocre Vic side willing to cough up a late first round pick. He is absolute fools gold and despite to lack of talent in the middle, he's expendable.

Self Review!

LeCras - I was hoping they'd make the tough call but that was never on the agenda. Does he last the season?

Masten - Clearly, we are stuck with his contract.

Schofield - Obviously not much interest, but not against retaining him.

Wellingham - They were being pretty serious I guess?

Hill - I think we all saw that coming.

Giles - Ditto

MacKenzie - As expected.

Gaff - I stand by this one - if he bails next year as a FA and we get low balled on compo then it's a missed opportunity. If he regains his AA touch, then I'll stand corrected.

With gaff, I believe he’s a restricted FA we could match and force a sign and trade.

Playing not to win, playing players out of position and taking your best players off if you get too close is tanking

Playing young guys and desperately trying to win but coming up short isnt tanking.

Im surprised that i actually have to tell you this distinction.
Lets tank the **** out of 2018 bro!
