I heard that this is possible but couldn't find anything useful when I did a search on Google. There's a lot of MTV shows that I can't watch on the website and need a US IP to access them.

Download a small program called Hotspot Shield. Lets you browse regularly, but assigns you a different IP. I use it to watch on Hulu.com. Works perfectly

Exactly. I have used Hotspot Shield to watch certain programs from the US and I have found it is exceedingly slow.Nah - it must make use of a third party somewhere along the line. You cannot have an IP address outside your ISP's range and expect to be able to use the internet - will not work without a lot of routing tricks.
Just checked it out - sets up a VPN which will probably slow the connection considerably.
