How do I change my IP to a US IP?

I heard that this is possible but couldn't find anything useful when I did a search on Google. There's a lot of MTV shows that I can't watch on the website and need a US IP to access them.

Any help?

Yep, it is proxy servers you are after and depending on what browser you are using the answer of how to do it will change slightly.

Yeah what they said, basically the proxy server will act as a middle ground between yourself and the MTV server and will 'tunnel' the data.

So you're not actually changing your IP address, but deceiving the MTV server into thinking that the proxy server is in fact you

Download a small program called Hotspot Shield. Lets you browse regularly, but assigns you a different IP. I use it to watch on Hulu.com. Works perfectly

Nah - it must make use of a third party somewhere along the line. You cannot have an IP address outside your ISP's range and expect to be able to use the internet - will not work without a lot of routing tricks.

Just checked it out - sets up a VPN which will probably slow the connection considerably.

Exactly. I have used Hotspot Shield to watch certain programs from the US and I have found it is exceedingly slow.
