If 2nd, 3rd, 4th year players are not showing anything (Bolton, Hennaman etc.) then they should be dropped to find form, if this doesnt work we are going to have to get whatever draft picks we can get as we need to rebuild and quickly too. We have good talent coming up in Johns, Monfries, Thomas, Bradley and Slattery from what i have heard, but yet their not getting game time. Its time for players to play for us or be traded to get picks and ghet younger players willing to play. Solomon is in some serious trouble if this iniciative is undertaken.

I agree with everything bar the Solomon part. Solomon in my opinion is one of our most important players, that's why the club tried so hard to keep him. Unfortunately so far this season we have seen far from his best mainly due to the issue with his knee and that could affect other areas of his game like confidence, but even with that injury he shows no fear and goes hard at the ball. Other than that he just needs to discipline himself at times.

I guess as a Collingwood supporter, I do feel in the same boat with the re-devolopement of the side.

It has been a poor year, not only looking at the ladder, but in the department of your strengths and weaknesses. You do have some quality players, and superstars in the game, such as Hird, Lloyd, Lucas, Fletcher, J Johnson and McPhee, but has totally fallen apart with the rest of the list. There is some youth such as Kepler Bradley, but the other names, which have shown promise, still are known for there quality, which is built up around the lack of skills at times and especially the inconsistency.

There is an outstanding list of players who are in this mould. Alvey, Bullen, Bolton, Carteledge, Dyson, Haynes, Monfries, Reynolds, Richards, Stanton, Winderlich - they are inexperienced, but they still have had opportunities and it is looking exciting, but still dull.

A big part is some of the senior players who have been riddled with injuries and impacted on form, and quite simply aren't playing as good football as they could be. Allan, Cupido, Rioli, even Murphy are players who need to step up and are capable of having ripper games, but to often we see them perform one week and the next they have shockers. Mark McVeigh needs to do that extra bit also, as does Andrew Welsh who has dropped off from a good start to the year. Damien Peverill is good, but still not an A class player, and probably squeezes into a B class player to be honest. Ty Zantuck is an addition to this list also.

As for Dean Solomon, he is known for his aggressive aproach and intimidating style, but it has been a month or two he would like to forget. He might be facing that Axe sooner or later, and discipline is something needed immediately for Solomon. A senior player needs to be able to perform, and after to many negetives, he should suffer a consequence, of an omittion.

patience is all that is required, good signs shown by plenty of the young blokes coming thru, but with that also comes inconsistency.

looking for a positive win ratio after the break, wont make the 8 unless theres a miracle, but thats ok as i reckon we will be a very competitive side next season.

I think that the likes of Hird, Lloyd, Fletcher, Mcphee, J.Johnson, M.Johnson are stars of the game but have all been affected this season by injury or some sort of interuption to their season.

Bullen, Bolton, Carteledge, Dyson, Haynes, Monfries, Reynolds, Richards, Stanton, Winderlich etc.... are inexperienced. They have been given time in the seniors, but not given enough of a chance to string a few games together.

Allan is unfortunately probably in his last year, but has served his purpose. Alvey was a very good player at the Bulldogs but has not been able to find that form after his knee injury, even though it is good to see him getting more games and more game time.
Rioli is a star, although he has not been able to stay fit and injury free. And for those people, essendon supporters included, who say that Rioli is fat, go and watch him play for Bendigo and get close up to him and you will see that he is far from overweight.
Cupido should go. He was named as one of the best for Bendigo on the weekend against Coburg, but I think that his efforts were poor, not doing the team thing and not putting in the hard yards.
There is only one word for Murphy, "SOFT".

Solomon is one of those guys that on recent form you would drop him and get rid of him in an instance, but you have to remember that he had a very interupted pre-season and has not had much luck during the year with injury and illness. I still think he is a required player, and on his day, ranks up with the top players at Essendon.

Well thats my 2 cents worth.......

i think zantuck should go the only good thing he has done this year is take the point against was it freo? i forgot

Better option as a 3rd defender than Hunt, Richards etc.

Young and experienced. Tough and hard.

Only really been beaten once this season against Adelaide when the whole side did. Was pretty good fighting out of his weight division against WCE and got carved by Brown in the short time he played on him.

His foot skills are fantastic, but for the most part he uses the ball well.

What more does the bloke have to do?

Fair assumption

Ye gads man - are you serious. He is laconical and his decision making as a result is poor. He needs to work very hard on his foot skills and start hitting targets, along with playing with more urgency. There is enough potential to persevere with him.

He does have the looney factor which is why I love watching him - like a time bomb ready to go off. Sensational.

Yeah, sorry I probably didn't explain myself properly.

It is definately a weakness in his game, but he doesn't make costly turnovers and it isn't bad enough to suggest he should be delisted. A lot of the time he does take the short option, and he does provide an important link in the back half that sets up the run from Welsh and McPhee.

But yes, there is definately a lot of room for improvement.

He hasn't had a pre-season, he was thrown straight into the senior side without any match practice in the VFL, so that considered he is holding up well.
