How do you get into the VFL?

How do you crack a spot on a VFL list? do they offer you...can you seek a try out, give them a call....what's the process?

Most clubs will let you just rock up and try for a spot on the list.

Ring the club, ask when training is due to commence. Ask if you can try out for a spot on the list. You will probably be asked to tell them a bit about yourself.. goals for 2007 etc.

Thanks for that Dolphin. I am a ACT local and have played in the AFL Canberra comp this year, played the last 7 games in 1st Grade and kicked 7 goals as a small forward. I am still only 17 do you reckon I will be up to the standard or what. The only problem with going to Frankston would be that Berry already holds down the small forward spot.

Good advice...

Whether its WCL or anyone else on the board here, there's not much point wondering in a few years if you might have been any good at VFL level. You never know if you don't give it a go.

But you have to have turned 18 before 31/12/06 to be in the VFL for next year.

Yeah I will be 18 before the end of the year, so the VFL is only option (apart from SANFL, WAFL). I will definatley give it some thought. My major problem is I want to have another option outside Footy and I need a job, so I have to weigh everything up, because it would mean going it alone in Vic without family.

Just rock up to the ground, pay about ten bucks at the gate and they will let you into the VFL.
