Just a speculation thread for the rest of the finals. This is how I see it:

St Kilda are going to beat the pies, so Collingwood will play Adelaide next week.
We know the Bulldogs will meet Brisbane next week.
I think the pies will get over the Crows, and the Bulldogs will beat the Lions.
Collingwood to play us in a prelim, along with Bulldogs up against St Kilda.
We will beat the pies and get into the grand final, and the saints will probably stitch up the doggies. (rough run into the finals for them I think.)

This is only my opinion. What do you guys see happening?

Prelim Finals:
Geelong def Adelaide
St Kilda def Bulldogs

Grand Final:
Geelong v St Kilda

Collingwood would need to play a lot better next week to win against Crows. Credit needs to go to St Kilda for their pressure which is forcing turnovers from the Collingwood players. St Kilda is back to playing their shutdown game, just in time for finals too. :thumbsu:

well the way collingwood are playing i think adelaide can take them.

so i think we can beat adelaide (as we already proved that and we have close to our best team back this time)

bulldogs will beat brissie and stkilda will beat dogs

My bet geelong/ stkilda grandfinal with us hopefully winning!!

collingwood only have 6 day turn around against crows, i reckon adelaide has the defence to take collingwood and forward line to take there defenders. davis and thomas need to have big games if collingwood is going to win, i cant decide which, but will beat adelaide and probably beat collingwood. Saints will beat whoever they play (dogs) and probably play geelong in grand final?? :l, by the way Ablett to win brownlow in front of Goodes and Swan tied 2nd.

You can bet Eddie will be all over this in the media this week. 'We finished higher, but they got a longer break... blah blah blah'

I think that Collingwood will probably get over the Crows in a tight one, setting up a 2007 prelim final rematch, and I think that the Bulldogs will most likely get over the Lions in what will be a tight game. To be honest I think we have the stiffer draw here, with both Adelaide and Collingwood being in good form recently. I'm hoping we can make it to the Grand Final, because if we do I've had a feeling all year we'll win it.

I agree with the majority:

Next week:
Crows > Pies
Dogs > Lions

Prelims:
Cats > Crows
Saints > Dogs

Granny
Cats vs. Saints.... could go either way.

I agree with allthe above, Cats V Saints G/F. And to be honest, whether the saints are better than us or not, I just can't see the boys letting another chance slip. Yes, the Saints will be tough to beat, but we have the talent to do it, so I think its possible. But lets get past the prelim first.....

Saints have a free ride to the GF now IMO.

Pies or Crows would be capable of beating us in the prelim, however a Saints-Cats final would still have to be a short price favourite.

Cats to win of course :)

I'd love the crows to win next week, but the magpies are a very good team who were made to look second-rate by an exceptional team, magpies will win, if only just.

Dogs will smash the Lions.

but as others have said, cats v. saints GF

Pies will be a hell of a lot easier to beat without Pendelbury in their midfield rotation. Forces Didak to play in more of a midfield role negating his danger as a small forward. Would almost prefer to play them in a PF than Adelaide. The crowd factor playing the pies however can be a bit intimidating.

Either way it should be a Cats/Saints GF.

Would prefer to play Adelaide in the prelim. I feel we have their measure, especially at the MCG, while collingwood always looms as a danger side, especialy in front of 60000 of their fans.

I actually think that it will be a Cats V Dogs Grand Final. I think that the Dogs will easily account for the Lions and will do a nice job against the Saints the following week to be in the Grand Final. They will be too fast for the Saints to cope with.

I doubt it. Saints have comfortably beaten Bulldogs both times they played during the year. Will be surprised if the Saints dont annihilate them. They should beat Brisbane though.

Veedubs im sure your only doing this to get a reaction. Do you really follow the cats??
Heard Billy Goggin interviewed last week, used to be my favourite player as a kid, anyway that's how long I've supported, but he said we are due to win a flag that we probably don't quite deserve to kind of balance the ledger a bit for last year. That's how I see it-Saints will be and should be favourites but we are probably the only realistic team to beat them. Can we get over a Prelim final this year? But right now Saints are #1 favourites with justification. Right now, very worried about Crows, but 3 weeks ago Pies worried me. All year Saints worry me. I worry a lot.
As said before, if we win IT this year, I will definitely convert to OPTIMISM

Last time we played the crows we had no Scarlett or Taylor and Johnson looked poor!Adelaide should be an easier game if we have to play them.Collingwood already look like the walking wounded:D

He was talking about all of Geelongs history, not just last year, and specifically 64.

I know Bill and he is the opposite of you. He's a complete optimist and an even more complete gambler.

I dont care who wins out of Pies and Crows coz we have both of them covered. I just want a tough physical contest preferably in the wet with a few injuries to the winning side.
One thing is for certain this week, the Dogs will be all over Lions. So in summary for this week;

1st Semi = Cats vs Winner of Pies/Crows
2nd Semi = Saints vs Dogs.

You'll only be optimistic if we win the flag?

You weren't excited by those electifying patches in the first and third quarters on Saturday - arguably the best patches we've played all season?

You weren't excited seeing just how much of a point Scarlett, Ablett, Enright, Ling and Bartel wanted to prove?

You weren't excited seeing the Saints struggle for the entire first half yesterday (Pies had a shot to go 21 points up at one stage yesterday), before their experienced players ran over the top of the Pies' kids and underperforming 'stars'?

You aren't excited that Riewoldt virtually won the game off his own boot yesterday, and that we have the best defender in the league waiting for him should we meet them in three weeks time?

You aren't excited knowing that they'll most likely have a harder prelim than us? (I'd rather play the Crows or Pies than the Dogs)

You aren't excited that we finally got through a match with no injuries, that Chapman got through and had an impact?

You aren't excited that we won against a very good side with our BEST and MOST IMPORTANT forward in SJ absent?

You aren't excited that we should have our best 22 (bar Egan/Hunt) available for the prelim for literally the first time all year?

You don't get the feeling that things might be finally falling into place for us?

Complete Optimist who is a Complete Gambler?
Train Wreck waiting to happen!
