How do you think we will go this year?!!

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I reckon that if Carlton takes the same sort of attitude as Wigan in the EPL when playing against better squads... i.e. they can beat them... and play good attacking football, then I am sure that we are going to do well...

Carlton will win games next year that nobody expects them to win, but on the flipside will also lose games that they probably should win. Look for a little bit of momentum late in the season if they string together a couple of consecutive wins. When a group of young kids get a sniff it is amazing how the confidence will spread like wildfire.

With about 10-15 wins

Good on ya Beagle.

I am perfectly happy to contemplate a pretty successful resurgence. I just think its unrealistic to expect it to happen overnight. The club has done the right thing, and started to build the list for the next decade. I would be upset if we were just chasing another temporary rise to 9th or 10th next year.

We have done the hard work, we have scrapped the bad players and we now have a list. How is playing for a win scrapping all the good work. Thats insane. We dont need to throw any more games or seasons, we have what we need and we can go pretty much all the way. Pagan is a master at taking teams from last to first. He has done it before. He NEEDED 2005 priorities to finish off the work of the previous few years. Its now done. Now we aim for the top. Saying that aiming for the top is aiming for mediocrity is mediocre in itself.

Explain why trying to win is chasing a temporary rise ?????

Have some confidence people.

Firrst of all I am optimistic - I am talking about a decade of success coming our way, not just 22 weeks.

Second, I think season 2004 (or Wizard Cup 2005) shows how wasy it is to mistake short term improvement as an indicator of long term success.

On my count we have 10 promising teenagers, plus another five promising guys who are really only 2 - 3 year players. I want to watch these guys develop into stars of the next decade. I'm much less fussed about whether we win 5, 6, or 8 games next year.

Didnt answer my question.

We will make the finals so deal with it (I mean that nicely cause im sure the thought will prompt feelings of nirvana) it even says so on the carlton home page

talk of finals here

keep up the pessimism...

Carlton cannot afford to move off the bottom of the ladder.

They need all the draft picks that they can get.

Dougo is at Adelaide........not Richmond???????????????

Good luck in the 21st century RooD`oY[2]4C.

The bottom of the ladder is where you will stay.

Murphy is a dud...........ask every TAC CUP player that gave him a bath in 2005....when he saw fit to go out onto the ground that is.

Your recruiting staff were sucked in.

Look up GOOGLE for the definition of SPIN DOCTOR.

oh really ?? wow, thanks for telling me where Richie Douglas went you football scholar you ... I bought up the Richie Douglas thing because I came across a post where u stated Douglas was better than Murphy .. and buddy .. that made me laugh .. you're a gun ! :D

Oh yeah and as for the rest of the TAC players that you claim towelled him up during the season, by saying that you've made me even happier we got muprhy .. I mean comon .. who wouldnt want a player who gets "towelled up" every week and still manages to average 28.5 possies a game, aswell as dominate the clearences in at the Championships (and win a Larke medal mind you).

now seeing as though your not good with literacy and understanding whats written on here, how about I give you a math equation in hope that you understand your current plight:

Richard Douglas > Marc Murphy = chewy-on-your-boot has 0 football knowledge/credibillity

Captain Misanthrope :thumbsu:

Its easy to get stats when the coach says...............AT ANY COST KICK IT TO MURPHY.

Dougo earned every possession he got.

right .. and what a "dud" he must be to have the coach want every ball given to him, and get "towelled up" and manage 28.5 possies a game average.

but not to worry Captain Misanthrope, Ive heard that aside from Carlton, teams such as Collingwood, Hawthorn oh and wait for it Richmond had Marc at #1 on their lists also.

so far your 0/2 ... Game, Set, Match C4[2]Yo`DooR

Fair cop artwodeetwo.

I guess the coach should not have listened to SHIFTEE who wanted to promote his favourite boy.

How many clangers did Murphy commit on the many occassions he was given the footy?????

Ask Pagan, he now has all the tapes.

Just refresh my memory, 'chewy', was it Murphy or Douglas that the Lions offered a 5 year contract to? Or would you have us believe that the Lions wanted to recruit a dud at a time when they know they need to start a rebuilding process very soon.

I would suggest that with your great foresight and knowledge of young players, that all 16 recruiting officers would be beating a path to your door. Not!

you know for the past 5-10 minutes, ive been contemplating a much bigger issue .. and that is whether I should even bother replying to anything you type on here anymore, I mean .. logic and common says tells me no ... my heart and sense of humour tells me yes ...

so seeing as though you dont come off as the sharpest tool in the shed, I'm going to break down all of the senseless arguments you've posted so far in no particular order:

1) Murphy is a dud and gets towelled up - Yet, he averages 28.5 possies a game in the TAC and dominates the clearences in the Championships.

2) Carlton got sucked in by recruiting Murph - Yet, Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn and probably others had him as their number 1. Also, pretty rich coming from a Richmond supporter .. I mean after all .. you did take Adam Fiona instead of Pavlich (that makes me laugh even when im asleep)

3) "The coach tells the players to kick it to Murphy at all costs" - But I thought you said he was a dud ?, Ive never known a dud to be the main man in a side with the likes of Dowler also in it ?

4) He kicks clangers - Yet, Brisbane were prepared to offer him not 1, not 2, not 3 but a FIVE YEAR contract, and the above teams as mentioned before; would have taken him with their number 1. Yeah, im sure the recruiting managers of each side dont know as much about Murphy as you, obviously they should have consulted you first right ??

and for the finale:

5) Richard Douglas > Marc Murphy - Yet .... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

The five year contract was created by a SPIN DOCTOR. ie it was bulldust.....and Carlton were sucked in.

And fifteen recruiting officers missed their chance to knock at my door.

yeah ... I think I won and/or made my point(s)

unless you care to fabricate anymore "facts" about how bad Carlton and Marc Murphy are ?

The only two words that come to mind are PRETTY and ORDINARY.

Murphy is pretty ordinary and Carlton is just ordinary.

I know two girls who think Murphy is pretty. I also know lots more who think he is not.

And I know mullions of Vics who think that Carlton is ordinary. Eddie told me.

They are facts.

So the Lions flew him and his family to Brisbane just for the sake of a bit of Spin. And Leigh Matthews had them over for dinner, just to show off his new wife.

The only bulldust surrounding Marc Murphy is coming from your direction.

Going by what you've posted tonight, those "2 girls" are probably your left and right hands.

News Flash: 16 premierships, Richmond have been ordinary for 20 years (that includes last year and this year). Living in a glass house are you ?

Close but no bananas.

The only people that realised Murphy's lack of skill are the fifteen other clubs that are glad you have him.

Have you ever seen him play? And seen how slow he is? And how he spills it up before he gets tackled?

Or do you just believe everything that the Herald-Sun tells you? And charges you more than a dollar to read the bull.

Geez, my hands are all sticky.

I'll have to stop putting cream on my toffee apples.

Of course those people that hand out the Larke Medal each year know diddly-squat about young talent or did the Herald Sun lie about Murphy winning the Larke Medal. No doubt if it was up to you it would have been awarded to Jarred Oakley-Nicholls.

Just so we can have a bit of a laugh, please do tell who you think should have been taken No.1 in this years draft.

With supporters like you it is no wonder the Tigers have gone a quarter of a century without winning a premiership and 23 years without making a Grand Final. Even Kevin Bartlett can see what an incompetent lot they are at Punt Rd.

Oh we are precious.

When I criticise a draft selection you hang sheet on a football club.

Murphy is a dud.

How many Larke Medalists are on AFL lists in 2006. It is not something you hang your hat on. Do you know who won it in 2004, or 2003 or 2002????

Murphy is a dud.

The number one draft pick for Carlton should have been Jessie Smith. At least he has got the guts to go in to a pack and get the footy out to his team mates.

Murphy is a dud.
