He is probably the only player I have ever seen who I do not want the ball in their hands.. I just know that he will butcher it.. He has the worst kicking action i have EVER seen. I know what you are all going to say that he's young and has upside... He has to develop in the ressies because his disposal is disgraceful at this level

I detest running any of our players down but when people are bagging Jordan Russell and he had 9 tackles and did a fair job on McLeod after quarter time, well i think Grigga needs a hard look at! Browne was in his first game today and looked more composed, more highly skilled and harder at it than Shaun has thus far. I see upside but BIG improvement needs to be made.

I have my doubts on Shawn Grigg when we drafted him.

Thought Grigg was good today. One of our best in fact. Scored 99 in SC also, so he couldn't have been as bad as you say. Do you think any of our players should play next week?

Stick SuperCoach up your ass.. For me next week

Out - Thornton, Hartlett, Grigg
In - Saddington, Edwards and Hadley

I thought so as well. Must have been watching another game to the others today. Missed that goal today, but he just needed to show some composure. I'd leave him in the best 22.

Despite what you think, SuperCoach uses Champion Data as a ranking system, and although it isn't everything, does often provide an accurate description of a players game. For example, if a player has 30 possessions, and they are all ineffective, the player won't score well at all. SuperCoach points are indeed often an accurate rating of a player's game

Grigg had 18 possessions, and with 99 points to his name, it suggests most of his possessions were effective. Living in Sydney, the papers here don't show the players' possession efficiency, but I'd be very interested if someone could check out Grigg's in tomorrows paper. I think you'll find his possession efficiency wasn't as bad as you think

I would bet that anyone defending Grigg was not at the game today, and I don't understand how he does escape critcism.

All I hear from the crowd is people slamming Russell. Sure he made several critical mistakes, but he also showed abit and had a fair crack.

Grigg's intensity rivals Houlihan, he isn't willing to put his body on the line enough. The only time I saw him attempt to shepard he stuffed that up too. Need a spell in the magoos to learn that games aren't handed out freely.

I was there.

83%- but how many were damaging? Efficiency just means kicks found a target- though they may have been 15m sideways kicks.

Cant Bentick get any credit - surely he adequately covered Hadley's absence today

He deffinately did play well today, Hadley is a better player once the ball is in their hands

I want to see both bentick and hadley play some time soon. chuck Gibbs in middle with them. and teach the other guys how to tackle

I truly believe that Grigg is still trying to pick up the speed of the game at AFL level, and I really thought today was a step in the right direction. I'm still not sure of his ideal position in the side, but I like the idea of him pushing up the ground off a HFF.

You may be right BW about his 83%, as i do recall a few chip kicks, but this was Carltons game style today, and at least we know he is hitting his targets.

Thanks :thumbsu:

Even if Grigg's kicks weren't damaging though, it shows he was at least hitting targets. If he's hitting targets, it means Grigg isn't the one turning the ball over. Yes he may not be damaging, but he's still only played less than 10 games, we can't ask too much of him.

I think 83% is definately good enough effeciency from Grigg, and it shows how wrong the people are who are saying he kept turning the ball over

And as HBF has already said, our game plan is to kick it short. Grigg isn't the one making the turnovers, I think his kicking today was fine and this thread is unnecessary :thumbsu:

how could grigg have missed that goal right in front???????? thats about the only thing that pissed me off about him today.

he looks like he has some true ability but lacks the big stage tempo
he had a cupla fluffs but looks like he could excite the game
maybe his unpredictability could be plus
he could have today with that missed goal opportunity
another player to look forward to developing
having said cant hurt to give more game time now rather than a
stint in the 2's
just as gibb strugled with speed a bit last year but gave us a taste
of the future potential

You don't have to wait

It is there immediately. SG 83% effective. Mind you they say AB 75% and thru my biased eyes don't remember more than 2 of his possies missing their target.
:thumbsu:

I think Grigg needs a stint in the 2s.Can definately be part of the future.Reminds me of Bower, how he started of making many mistakes but is now playing good footy. For now but Grigg in the 2s for me.

Goes back to what I was saying earlier about him picking up the pace of the game. Could have steadied a little more than what he actually did. He was also on the wrong side for a left footer. Still, all of these games we are getting into him will do him a world of good.

Have a look at Paul Bower this time last year, and how much critisism he was copping around these parts. And now look at him.
