How long do Kochie and Thomas wait?

Don't have a problem with the Koch comments let's face it our coach gives limp dick pressers

My only problem is that he put the onus on the players to self report if they're not serious (never going to happen) as opposed to the club making hard but necessary decisions based on what they would already know.

Maybe that's what he actually meant and just delivered it poorly, but to me the way it was said sounded like a cop out deguised as tough talk.

Yeah, I reckon Koch should have kept his powder dry instead of shooting his mouth off in public straight after the game. Poor form from the chairman.

No. I'm ****ing sick us being soft and worried about what others think. **** them. We're here to win shit and that's exactly what Koch is saying.

He's about to go on Double AArghhh hope he doesn't backtrack

My only problem is he only directed it at the players should've whacked the coaching staff as well

This is the disappointing thing, BUT!

On face value, it's the players who have let us down and burned through coaches. It's the players who are inconsistent. Rememeber how the players reacted when Koch gave them a bake for a pathetic performance? Boak had a wah-wah.

We have to stop breeding that shit. The players deserve a whack.

Yep, after that debacle he should have laid into everyone and let them know that the Board expect more from everyone!

Ultimately, the stuff ups in many 'key' moments in the second half and ET are on the players, but the fact our players didn't turn up in the first quarter and weren't prepared for those key moments later in the game is squarely on the coaches.

**** I'm sick of people getting so sensitive about some simple comments. Get ****ed!
If the players have a ****ing problem with the comments we know who the mentally weak campaigners are! We are a club that exists to win premierships not a bloody day care centre!

A CEO or chairman will not publicly whack coach in a post game. Get real. And especially a coach who has bought in to the club's China direction and whom they intend to keep. His comments were likely directed ayr Impey and a few others. Anyway they weren't that harsh. It has just been blown up out of all proportion as per usual. Plus it was said at a Port after match function where the supporters were hurting and was filmed privately and posted publicly by someone, not the club.

Yep players that are sensitive to it should pack their bags

Listening to Koch on 5AA there, you can be sure that Hinkley is going to get an extension.

Did he say that Hinkley has the club's full support? Because that has a connotation...

(I am just kidding, I'm not that optimistic.)

Not me I am happy.

He reiterated the "my job is to make him a 10 year coach" bullshit. We best get used to the idea of Hinkley staying.

Would you prefer him to be more vanilla?

LOL... amazing.

Hell in a hand-basket.

KT was on the 8.30-9.00 segment on ABC Rado with Ali Clarke and David Bevan. Now Bevo has been interviewing politicans for 30 years so he saw something sinister or hidden in what Koch said about the players and came back to it twice. KT pointed out in the end not to read to much into it, it was 30 minutes after the game and we want to win premierships and don't just want to make finals. He was pressed about Hinkley and he told them he is contracted until end of next year and there is no rush to re-sign him. He said after Ken does the player reviews etc he will sit down and talk with him.

If we re-sign him for 2 more years and we are in a similar position at the end of 2019 and haven't won a flag, then I hope the club is strong enough to say we won't make any extensions until the end of the next season when his contract runs out. This bed wetting and going early has to stop.

I so want to believe that. Anything to ease the hurt I'm feeling and the vision of Dan Houston in his mum's arms :'(
Yeah it was, actually watching Hartlett's reaction after the siren made me happy.

I think he has matured in the last few months, dare I say fairly leadership looking....A bridge too far, maybe.

Hartlett has been good the last 6 weeks, but he is not go near leadership again. I think on field leadership is one of our biggest problems. When it was hot early and we were getting hammered by virtue of not getting our hands on the ball, everyone just shit themselves. A good skipper puts himself in the mix, grabs the footy and perhaps slows it down for a couple minutes. Boaky, more often than not, looks sore and or injured.

I think now is the time for new leadership. Is it Wines? I dont know. He may have suffered at the hands of the shit we have been the last 3 years. Left field perhaps and maybe not skipper but Charlie Dixon is a player who certainly leads by example out there. Could do worse than have him as a leader...

Thanks REH, sounds like positive signs from KT that a premiership is back on the agenda. This season was over as soon as the KPI became making the finals - selection and structural changes that were needed weren't made until that was assured, too late to settle the players in before finals.

Still ambivalent about a contract extension for Ken. 41,000 (even allowing for the SMA Factor (tm)) for a home final in ideal timeslot says fans aren't enamoured with the current game plan, and there's been no signs that the direction will change

How much does the captaincy affect a player's game? I'd love to see Charlie as captain, but if he's our only forward, can we take that risk?
