How long do Kochie and Thomas wait?

He reiterated the "my job is to make him a 10 year coach" bullshit. We best get used to the idea of Hinkley staying.

The `my job is to make him a 10 year coach ' comment is absolute BS, Koch doesn't have the football qualifications to make a statement like that, and I suspect it was ego driven.

Would the club consider letting Hinkley out of his contract? Reading through some of this thread he doesn't seem popular

Have a crack. Great bloke.

He would probably be good for GC. Like he was for us in 13/14.

I think you're right. He's a natural leader who can give the team's culture and engagement a shot in the arm. But that has diminishing returns, and he doesn't have what it takes to take the next step.

Couldn't agree more.

Koch has no idea what's required to be a successful footy club. He's been heaven sent for the off-field side of things, anytime he opens his mouth on the playing/coaching side of things he sounds cringeworthy.

He reckons our players need to 'want to win premierships' or they should leave. He says they need to want to be composed when it matters most too! **** me, I've been around footy clubs for longer than I care to remember and can't remember 1 single player who didn't want to win a flag or more, and every single one of them wanted to be better as a player too.

It's not about what they want, it's about whether they are capable enough or not. That's the only question that needs to be firstly asked, and then honestly answered because from where I sit many players and coaches fall in to the NOT CAPABLE side of the ledger.

We have a huge pool to reference from now and it's a horrible picture.

Many of our players are not good enough for top end finals action. Our coaching is also highly questionable against top of the ladder sides. We can't tough out close games, we can't beat top sides, we get beaten tactically more than we win, crowds are dropping off. What am I missing here?

It's like Koch is desperately wanting Boak, Gray, Ryder, Westhoff to hurry up and finish their careers so we can continue to appoint Hinkley and fulfill the ego Koch has be hiding behind the 'rebuild' or 'youth' excuses for another 3-5 yrs without any pressure or expectations.

There is not 1 shred of proof that Hinkley should continue next year. If it's purely $$$ and he must see out next year then under no circumstances at all must his contract be extended until mid-late season in 2018. Anything before that is simply irresponsible and a decision made by those that have no interest in the PAFC ever being anything more than a number filler.

A harder draw in 2018, a couple of injuries, this squad wont play finals.

Do we really want to have a coach until the end of 2020 that hasn't a ****ing clue?

That is my real worry. We were kissed squarely on the old fella with our draw and injuries this year. We were completely inept against quality opposition. The worry for me is the whole 5th was great, yeh, and how unlucky were we to lose after the siren in extra time. Things are looking up, right?

I am not convinced. Far from it. Sign him for 2 more years and we have another 15/16 season next year and we are looking up from out of the shitter.

Big Footy is strongly weighted towards the Ken hating from what I can make out. Out in the big wide world of the general supporters and facebook he appears mostly loved. The club wouldn't let him walk unless we had a high calibre replacement.

So you're happy for the club to make the popular decision in lieu of the correct one?

BigFooty is weighted towards supporters who are very invested and know the game more than the 'OMG I love you Chad!!!' set that is the bulk of Facebook.

At the moment those ones are still seeing enough wins to enjoy the atmosphere, but they'll have drop offs in enthusiasm. They already have, with our shrinking Membership numbers. That's just a few less smoke blowers on Facebook though, the club wouldn't notice anything there.

If the club had a clue, they'd see EpicPigskin as the canary in the coal mine. When us rusted ons are so discontented, further drops in Membership and supporter engagement are going to follow. And despite finally gagging the on-ground announcer for NTUA (that was the highlight of the night), on-field issues can't be fixed up by simple band-aids.

Individually, we are just that, but as a group, the club would be wise to actively monitor this board more, for having the pulse of Members. There's few here that aren't, Facebook the Member / casual supporter ratio would be much much lower.

Wages growth of nil and no economic growth. Do I have...do I want to spend another $1000 on port next year?

Myeh. No. Not if Ken is still there stinking it up. Club needs to think hard about this.

If Kern does get an extension to the end of 2020 you would think that would put the kybosh on a Dew or Francou type coming here as an assistant, as I can't see blokes like them hanging around for 3 more years waiting for the main gig, and what if Bass accepts a job elsewhere, if that happened it could really throw the cat amongst the pigeons.

BigFooty is also weighted towards supporters who are obsessed, rusted on nut jobs with such a high degree of emotional investment that our moods in everyday life go up and down based on the weekend's results. And in an 18 team competition where 1 club wins the sole prize on offer each year, what do you think the mood of most boards on BigFooty is going to be?

Koch is no expert on football related matters but I back KT to make the right calls. If he thinks this is the right move then I'll back him until it's proven otherwise.

Can't trust kt he has a man crush on hinkley

No, I am responding to a GCS poster who said the general consensus is hating Ken.

And by the way, saying that sacking him is the correct decision is a stretch. How do you 100% know that?
Unless we have Clarko or someone close to that calibre coming over we could dig ourselves into a deeper hole.

Sometimes the best action actually is no action. People always want quick results, and a scapegoat, but going for Ken's jugular is a bit unfair in my opinion.
