How long do Kochie and Thomas wait?

I took it to mean that Koch sees that it's his job to ensure that Ken has the support and resources to become a successful 10 year coach.

That's the way I read into it as well.

I took it to mean that Koch sees that it's his job to ensure that Ken has the support and resources to become a successful 10 year coach.

It all hinges on the definition of "successful".

I'm seeing some of the derpiest posts I've ever read racking up the likes on the various facebook fanpages.

'Re-sign him he's a revolutionary and every other coach has copied him'

'Had we won on Saturday night with all those kids people would be hailing him as the next Sheedy'

'By re-signing we would be showing our faith in him'

'We have potential that he needs to see through'

As a populist morning show host these are precisely the types Koch would listen to.

******* hell. If we don't have balls to at least move on a couple of assistant coaches, why bother rocking up at all in 2018?.

Criticism given while paid up and at the game in front of a national audience is harder to ignore.

Imagine 35,000 faithful that paid there way, turn up and spend the whole quarter not making a sound with their backs to the play

Clutching at straws but what else have I got :p

Jesus, I hope not.

I've had to cull all Port/AFL related pages on FB. It depresses me too much.

Lol I did that half way through the year. Including PAFC official.

Gross content.

Who is the the resident journo on Talking Footy? Thinks Gold Coast are hunting Hinkley.
From memory he was the first to break the Dixon to Port story, sounds like someone likes to talk to Sam

AKA Sam Notacluer
He is not alone.
Article maybe pay-walled so a quick snippet

"GOLD Coast will sound out Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley to fill the Suns’ vacant senior coaching job.
Hinkley is contracted to the Power for next season and is expected to be offered a new deal keeping him at Alberton until the end of 2020.
Port president David Koch on Monday said the offer would be made at a time that suits Hinkley.
But the Gold Coast will move this week to contact Hinkley’s management."

so what. He's under ****ing contract

I would imagine it's entirely possible that your Board would prefer not - on the basis of a season of improvement but only moderate success - not to extend Hinkley's contract and to see how things play out next year.

However they could have their hand forced by the Gold Coast - especially if Hinkley's manager is doing his job.

It's not a stretch to think that his manager could leverage a four year offer out of Gold Coast to entice Ken away from where he is (similar situation to contracted players). Then the manager turns around to Port and says he needs more security than entering into the final year with no guarantees of a new deal and so wants a minimum two year extension.

Now you're looking at the least worst option between extending him until the end of 2020 even though the jury's still out or seeing him walk now (and no I don't believe a contract will give you much protection).

Rock and a hard place...

True. But if he wants to go, forcing him to coach for 12 months would be counter-productive.

I hope there is a mutual agreement. We now have a chance to move on from a coach in an orderly and bloodless fashion. It's a good opportinity we need to seriously consider if Hinkley is open to it.

so what. He's under ******* contract

You say that as if contracts are worth the paper they are written on. Money talks. If they buy him out with a little sweetner to us - it's a great result.

;)
Point 1.
Who says he wants to go? Where has that been said by even one single person in the know?
Point 2.
KT said when we lost Burgo that he won't let another senior person walk while under contract. We have lost 3 in 5 years.
Point 3.
They can talk to him all they like and they will also talk with other potential candidates. It means nothing.
and more importantly...
Point 4: I still have my YesWeKen Tshirt and i want chance to wear it
