I believe the worst will happen today and the Roo will be charged with striking.

If so I believe he will get a couple as Stafford got 2 for punching a shirt filled with air, and Didak although a stupid act got offered one for trying to put his hand in his pocket to get his hankey out to blow his nose and his elbow just happen to hit some power players stomach.

If he does go up, how many do you think.

Me probably two but hoping for one as he will go IMO.

Ah yes, but Stafford is an idiot thug with a history of idiotic thugism - Roo is a Brownlow medallist and potential dual Brownlow medallist.

Intentional downgraded to reckless downgraded to negligent downgraded to intolerant downgraded to inedible downgraded to inconsequential.

See you next week Roo.

What will he go for???? Accidently throwing your arm back at a stoppage trying to clear the way to get the ball.

it looked to like threw his arms up to try and keep his balance, surely he couldn't go for that...???

I can't see how the Stafford situation(s) is relevant to Roo. To me it was accidental, but who knows how the AFL will treat it on the day.

Roo wont serve any time........reckless at worst. - I think they will be able to argue successfully that his body was rotating and his arms swung out to balance.

Worst case scenario....they think it's worth a week....they'll offer him a discount for pleading guilty.

so, if he's found guilty but doesnt miss a week due to discounts or whatever, is he still ineligable for the brownlow?

yep - still ineligible......it's the being found guilty part that makes you ineligible....not the time served.

Given Mark is only playing 80-odd minutes a game this year....I don't think he's in any danger of winning the Brownlow.

btw - welcome creature-beast...... :)

If channel 9 didn't repeat it 5 times and hodge showed some balls for a change and didn't go down like a sack of spuds we probably wouldn't be talking about it.

it was reckless but accidental. he has a great record and as people have said a brownlow medalist. the only concern i have is the recent decisions made by the tribunal for seemingly harmless incidents and the fact that the afl community, especially the victorian media seem to have a vendetta against the crows since burton rightfully got off for his hip-and-shoulder.

again, another incident that probably wouldn't be looked at if channel 10 didn't replay it repeatidly and Tim "i'm the best caller in the business" Lane got off his high-horse and realised that football is a contact sport!

if roo gets suspended for that it is a disgrace but then the melbourne based tribunal has a long history of sespending big name interstate players so i won't be shocked just ********ed off
I am assuming we are talking about the backwards elbow on Hodge? So because Hodge held his jaw for a few seconds its now deemed to be deliberate? Not one player remonstrated with Roo.. Roo wasnt even looking(ok Judd wasnt either) and there was no malice in the action. It was an accident caused by imbalance.

Get a biomechanist in and it will be thrown out

But if it is not I will be personally ringing and writing to AFL house expressing my disgust.

...or get Dean Kemp to testify what happens if Roo actually means to make contact...... :D

 Luke Hodge grow some balls? Oh Dear....

Lets see Ricciuto whack you in the face and see if you can stand up after it, i highely doubt many could....

For what its worth, it looked like Roo knew what he was doing, but exectued it perfectly and will get off...

Agree entirely. Hodge is a very courageous player, in fact probably the most courageous in the Hawks line up. The kid played on after injuring his back early and still managed to be effective. He then cops a fair knock, rubs his jaw a few times and gets on with it. No complaints with Hodge's behaviour at all.

I also think the action of Roo will be scrutinised, but dismissed as all he was attempting to do was clear a path through the congestion. He didn't take his eyes off the play and didn't make deliberate contact with Hodge's jaw, it was just incidental (or collateral damage if you like!!)and shouild be OK.

I can't believe he got reported for that! It was nothing, he didn't even know the guy was behind him, let alone intend to hit him!

Surely he will get off. I thought McLeod's elbow to some Hawthorn player in that same piece of player was far worse.

He hasn't been reported has he? Or cited yet - if at all?

It would be ridiculous if he is cited!! But we are talking about the tribunal!! :(

None - he should get none.

None, if he goes for that I will never watch or attend footy ever again.

Wasnt facing Hodge was accidental and was not malicious at all, ridiculous it has even been reported.

You mean like Gehrig, Didak and Smith?

Ok they got done but thats only three try Burns, Miller only got two for the hit on McGregor, Murphy didnt get anything for his hit on the saints player.
Then you get Pickett gets six for his hit on Begley fair enough. but what about burns and millers.
Shattock gets three for his on L.Ball whats so different to millers also and murphys.
