Bias doesn't need to be conscious. We routinely get shafted in high leverage moments. Do you think that's not happening?
It would be interesting to see what the stats are for every club.Once is unlucky, Twice a coincidence, four times is a pattern of behaviour by AFL Umpires.
I dont. But even if it's happening, it makes it more important that we get our side of the equation right. Until idiotic selection effups like Murphy cease, there's no point worrying about anything else. We already hamstring ourselves more than umpires can do.

Anyone who thinks this all a coincidence is delusional...Bias doesn't need to be conscious. We routinely get shafted in high leverage moments. Do you think that's not happening?
That it's happening is a simple statement of fact. It's not really open to not believe it. The AFL has admitted to four of the game altering errors in the last two years. You can dispute the reason for it, but trying to pretend the phenomena doesn't exist is just denialism for the sake of it.
The idea that you can't try to alter this because you could also be otherwise perfect is a false logic.
The play on from the mark and resulting HTB that wasn't called in said goal square was a doozy as well.I disagree that it's happening any more to us than to other clubs. We just bleat about it more because we're whiney bitches. Are you complaining about the Keane throw in defensive goal square?
It's absolutely a coincidence. Every AFL team's supporters think the umpires have it in for them. Is our supporter base the only one who is correct?Anyone who thinks this all a coincidence is delusional...
It's quite possible for it to happen more to you than other clubs without it being a conspiracy too. After all, one club will be the unluckiest one in any given time period with umpiring late in close games. It's probably us in the last 40-odd games, which is what it is.I disagree that it's happening any more to us than to other clubs. We just bleat about it more because we're whiney bitches. Are you complaining about the Keane throw in defensive goal square?
Why have we got far, far more apologies from the AFL then?I disagree that it's happening any more to us than to other clubs. We just bleat about it more because we're whiney bitches. Are you complaining about the Keane throw in defensive goal square?
No, he got an AFL bonus & guarantee of finals.Did the umpire get sacked? Means nothing then.

Maybe it happens to us more because we are good at being behind at the end of close games.
If I'm not mistaken, all of the apologies relate to us trying to score to win the game from behind.
Of course egregious errors happen to all teams. But we need to be apologized to so often because of what we are as a team
More than one thing can be true.
We can need to be better, and also we deserve officiating that doesn't continuously err against us with the game on the line.
The other poster is taking the piss. It can’t be a serious suggestion. What legal avenues? Do you think the AFL is going to award premiership points or let Adelaide start all games in 2024 ahead by 10 points or something because we threaten to sue them over an umpiring error?
Complaining and hoping that you get better treatment in the future is all you can do.
We were only behind as we had been screwed by 2-4 other goals during the gameMaybe it happens to us more because we are good at being behind at the end of close games.

It doesn't matter. We were only behind as we had been screwed by 2-4 other goals during the game
Otherwise it’s the same pathetic arguments people were putting up with Keaysgate that we didn’t deserve to win as 5 goals down at 3/4 time
Yes - we have lost a lot of close games in the last 40 or so weeks. We've also shown an ability to hang in games and come from behind late, which means we're in a position to be robbed by a poor umpiring decision more than other teams because we are pushing for a final goal to complete a comeback. That, plus some pretty serious misfortune (Keays non-referral obviously the worst).Maybe it happens to us more because we are good at being behind at the end of close games.
