I am just so excited that we beat em... :thumbsu:
And Brisbane..
And Sydney ;)
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

CARN THE BOMBERS!!
:D :D :p :p

I'm sure we can sneak in another 1 or 2 before the season ends.

GO BOMBERS 2007!!

And for those that have been calling for Pev to be delisted...it should finally sink in that he's here to stay.

I have called for him to be delisted and he still is 50/50 for mine. I have loved Pev and would really hate to see him go but where he fits into our rebuilding phase is the question.
Has played a few great games and good on him. At least i was right with my call that he should still be in the side and given a chance to prove his worth before the end of the season even if i do get proven wrong about him being delisted :D

As for the game , like the great man Rick Flair says

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Pev has been great, but it isn't much of a suprise that his return to form has come against StKilda, Carlton, Brisbane and Collingwood.

Teams without a whole lot of pace through the midfield. He's been fantastic, but I'm not sure we can keep all of Pev, Heff, Slattery and Jolley when we already have Watson in the middle.

As much as I hate to say it, Pev is definately trade bait.

In terms of work rate and pressure he was great last night. On the flipside he didnt know what his opponant looked like and his possesions did not cause any real damage to the Collingwood side. I thought Stanton was our most influential midfielder last night.

Definitely sweet to knock off Collingwood, I'm so happy that the boys put a huge dent in their top 4 chances :D I haven't sung the song that loud for a while, it was magical at the G!

PS: I've been visiting this site for quite a while now (Maybe 8-12 months), and have just now decided to join up. Good to see some true supporters on the board :)

I wouldnt like to see him leave the club for anything less than a promising kid or 2nd round draft pick. His strength and determination is exactly whats required in this transitional stage the club is in right now. I think he'll stay regardless of speculation. We could do worse and hold onto Reynolds and Henneman

Sheeds goes alright at trade week, but if he gets us a second rounder for Pev I will personally run a nude lap around Windy Hill.

Comparing Pev to Reynolds or Henno is futile. He's not competing for a spot on the list with them, he's competing with Jolley. Heff and Slattery (the others that play his role) have contracts.

Ben Jolley provides everything Pev has, but he uses the ball better.

Overall Pev is a better footballer than Jolley. If we have youth already with Watson and Slattery and Heff isn't old yet, I'd keep Pev for depth at least, he showed he can his arse off and contribute solidly and let Jolley go, also a depth player at best.

Depends on if you are keeping a depth player who has upside for the future or one who will give you another couple of seasons tops. One has to remember we are likely to go with another couple of midfielders in this draft so either Jolley or Pev may get a spot as we already have Dempsey, Lonergan,Firman and Hocking who have done well at various stages for Bendigo.
The list will be built one of two ways. Rebuilding for 3 to 4 years time or look for more glory next year or the year after. It will decide if some of the older players are kept.

I take my hat off to the Bombers on there performance Friday night and once again throwing a massive Don spanner into our works.......I had a feeling all week about this game being a "massive" danger game for us....$4.00 for a win was laughable and even I was tempted throwing a few quid on you blokes......You started well and finished well......I thought we had you when we hit level, but we didnt it want it as much as you blokes did in the last 10 minutes and for a team gunning for a top 4 spot.....that's very concerning, anyway congrats once again no doubt in 2007 will a full sqaud to pick from and your full forward back in the sqare Essendon will once again be a powerhouse, as for our blokes I cant work them out......You deserved the win and the bragging rights till Anzac Day ;)

Just on Welsh he is doing his value no harm, his form in the last month has been pretty good.

A different footballer to the garbage he was serving up at the start of the year.

Somehow, I dont think Jolley is ready just yet to leap frog Pev in the pecking order and I rate Pev more highly than Heff and Slatteryat this point in time. That was Heff's best game in pretty much all his time at Melbourne and this year with us...he would need to string a few more together to convince me of your opinion.

The difference between Heff, Slattery and Pev is that latter two have contracts. They can't be delisted and are out of the equation, Pev can.

I guess it all comes down to whether you think Pev is in our best 22, IMO he isn't. And in that case I believe there is more value in hanging onto a youngster like Jolley who is going to improve and uses that ball better.

Thats where our opinions differ. Easily in my best 22...the last month has convinced me of this.

Incidently, I wasnt incinuating or speaking of delistings. I was replying in refeence to your opinion on trade bait.

If he's in our best 22 going forward then we as a team are in trouble. He can chase, tackle and run hard but he shows his direct opponant no respect. He hasnt the skill level to be a free wheeling midfielder, he just doesnt hurt teams.

Pev is at his most valuable when he can take a good player out of the game and get 15-20 possesions himself. If he isnt doing that then he is no value to us.

Agree 100%.

He's redundant going forward. Which is a tough thing to say because I have a massive amount of respect for the bloke.

Marcuz and Longy are right on the money. You dont want Pev to be a 'link' player getting the ball because he simply doesnt hurt opposition enough and it is a role that you would like winderlich, dyson, dempsey and lovett to fill in the future (better pace and disposal). I suspect Pev will get traded because he is replacable and would be a useful component of a three way trade. (see trade thread) As fans Pev is a player we love because you know he has got everything out of himself but we have a plethora of his player type at the club at the moment.

Again, our opinions differ here (and im beginning to sound like a broken record also...) You mention where his most valuable asset is, but surely to christ...it doesnt warrant us trading him at this very point. IMO he deserves at LEAST another season at the club...and he generally gives the team his total commitment for pretty much the entire duration. The argument was bascially Pev v Jolley, Slattery and Heff. I find it hard to believe that Jolley and Slattery have suddenly burst onto the scene and pushed Pev out of our best possible line up.

Hang on, as much as I like these two particular individuals...Winders and Dempsey RIGHT NOW arent ready to fill that position. Sure, when theyre ready to step up in a season or 2..then it would be warranted to turn our list over, but at this VERY point in time including next season (which is what Im trying to get across here...) Pev is above them in my pecking order.
