Anyone been watching these docos on Fox Sports?

Just been watching the 2003 World Cup wrap up and it's brought back some fond memories.

- Everyone remembers that awesome 143* from Symonds when every man and his dog thought he was no good. But for mine his 91* in the semi final on a minefield was even more important... don't think we would have won that game if it wasn't for him.

- 2003 was also Ponting at his very best. His innings in the final had to be seen to be believed.

- Brett Lee bowling at 160km/h.

The doco didn't really highlight it, but I seem to remember Andy Bichel having a dream tournament...

I saw a bit of the 1999 recap the other day as well, hopefully they replay it and show a bit of the 2007 triumph at some stage as well...

Was just gonna make this thread!

Yeh Some of Ponting's sixes in that final were enormous!

Once again shows how good we were. Gilly and Hayden delivered nearly every time at the top of the order.

Bichel had one awesome game against England where he took 7 wickets and scored some vital runs with the bat, not sure about his whole tournament though.

4 in a row would be amazing, it's definately got me pumped for 2011's edition to start :thumbsu:

For me, it brought back memories of watching that famous semi-final against Sth Africa in 1999, which is the greatest ODI ever in my opinion.

Still can't believe Rieffel dropped those two sitters toward the end! It only added to the occasion though, and in truth, it makes the recollection of the event that much more dramatic.

Got tingles when watching that Symonds 143* knock again. No one (including me) gave him a chance when he was selected in the squad, but that's got to be the most miraculous coming of age performance I've seen when it comes to sport.

Just reinforces how crucial the contributions of Steve Waugh, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting & Glenn McGrath have been to our continued world dominance in the One-Day arena.

This one from Collingwood goes alright too ;)

Youtube "Damien Fleming Professional Speaker" or something like that and he gives a nice, brief chat on that Semi Spud!

Warne's ball to Gibbs in that semi was just as good as the Gatting ball in 93, maybe even better considering the circumstances!

I forgot about Kenya making the other Semi too :p

They're showing 2007 recap now.

We were that ****ing good in that tournament, that it was almost unfair on the rest of the world. No team got near us.

Matt Hayden, what a beast!

Unfortunately I missed a lot of the action at the time due to shit time difference in the West Indies.

They showed 1996 yesterday and they had a clip of some bloke from UAE facing Allan Donald without a helmet and he got hit on the head, hahaha...:)

^ I saw that too, but I'm pretty sure he was wearing a helmet but it fell off, I had to watch the replay because I thought the same at first.

I loved the History of the World Cup docos. :thumbsu:

You kind of forget how truly AMAZING that 1996 WC SF win over the West Indies was. I was only 8, and the fact that we lost the final means not much is said of the game, but I had no idea what a remarkable win it was.

I was actually just watching it now. The player was wearing a wide brimmed cap, not a helmet.

Just a couple of good moments from the 03 World Cup that I uploaded.

He was incredible that tournament. 1 wicket from being the leading wicket-taker and was very fast.

In addition to I Captured the Cup was a 2 part History of the World Cup, which focused more on the tournaments in general and before the Opening Ceremony they showed We Captured A Cup, which focused purely on the winning captains.

All up all were fantastic documentaries. Many great memories.

agree.

maybe even the best moment ever in australia sport, hard to split that and the australia-uruguay penalty shoot-out that got us ito the world cup.

i remember doing work experience and its all the place could talk about, it really united the country at the time and i remember they replayed the game that night.it wouldn't happen these days.
