I Confess I Was Wrong Thread

2002 - After winning the VFL grand final with a bunch of new kids looking okay (and David Mensch kicking a crucial late goal) I made the bold call that these guys were truly special, and given time, the perennially mediocre Geelong side would finally win the AFL flag in 2008.

Despite coming from nowhere to win either side of that year, as well as being truly dominant in 2008, my friends never fail to remind me that technically, I was wrong.

Unstoppable monster?? Roughhead was BOG last week v Hurley. Will be interesting if he goes to are Riewoldt after what he did to him last year.

Hurley played on the ball?

Hurley beat Roughead when Roughead played forward, however, Roughead primarily spent his time in the midfield.

I thought Patrick Karnezis would be a 20-25 disposal, 1 goal a game average on baller for us, and could be our Steve Johnson.

I was wrong, Jack Crisp however is producing what I hoped Karnezis would.

If a club could fix his confidence and kicking he would be one of the best forwards in the comp.
He just reminds me so much of Ben Griffiths at Richmond. Yes, Griffiths has flaws but seems to have played an acceptable role this year.

Nah Butcher is pretty much cooked at this point. He's bein played in defence in the ressies. Shows how much faith the coaches have in him

Butcher is shot which is a shame. He certainly had the talent. Continued complications with his back and a complete lack of confidence in his kicking and it's all gone downhill.

Will be gone at seasons end. He is so mentally shot it aint funny, quite sad to see him moping around in the SANFL getting towelled up most weeks. Maybe a change of scenery will spark him into action

As a Cats man it hurts to say it but I thought that Geelong would just turn up in 2008 and win the flag......boy was i wrong and Big Footy never lets me forget it

I thought Essendon was guilty of doping, but would get off. Then I thought they were innocent and would get heavily punished. Then I thought they were guilty and would be found guilty. Then I thought they were innocent and would be found innocent.

Then my head hurt.

Story of my life really.

I thought Jack Watts was going to justify his no.1 pick title and that it just took tall forwards a while to develop o_O
