It has nothing to do with you not having money to get him, or being able to meet Freo's demands. I just do not think at the end of the day you will decide to pass on pick 24 in a highly rated draft. In 2006, the superdraft, you made a commitment to taking Shaun Hampson with pick 17 (a bit ahead of where most thought he would go). IMO, you guys will stick with Hampson and try and develop him. Warnock hasn't played that many games/had that much experience and getting him now would be silly as you should have the courage and persistence to back the priority pick Hampson.

Thats the beuty of this trade. We dont NEED warnock. It would be great to have him but its not crucial. THey can take what we offer or get nothing. WE arent gunna offer anything more than what he is worth becaus eit isnt imperative that we get him. But having said that, DW he will be a nave blue next year.

Then why offer pick 24 in the last uncompromised draft and a very strong draft when you "don't need Warnock".

That's next year mate.

A strong ruck brigade will make us very formidable. Warnock, Kreuzer and Hampson feeding Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Gibbs and Ziebbel/Hartlett will make us very, very scary.

This is how I can see is happening for 2009:

Warnock/Hamspon in the ruck
Cam Cloke playing at CHF - won't set the world on fire, but will at least be a target
Mat Kreuzer in the FP

I agree with that. But wouldn't paying 2 ruckman + Fevol and Fisher in the forward line make us very top heavy?

We need another small forward.

Are you the "anti - Thylacine" ? or Thylacine from another dimension?

I suggest we all take a lesson from this poster:

That structure would be too top heavy, l would suggest unless Carlton can find another forward option in the trade/draft period Kreuzer will be given the opportunity to develop as a CHF.

l fail to see how you can have four players basically all ruckman one that may be a CHF in the future, all in the same team when the game has so much emphasis on running players.

Unless we then have a very good ruckman with 4 years experience who comes from ther Gold Coast.........when the draft is locked..........what do you reckon he would be worth?;)

I'd say given how many picks they have, a top 5 would do it.:D

Remove Cloke from that lineup and there is the solution

Kreuzer up forward in a Kozzie like role with Hampson and Warnock in the ruck.

A HFF is not a small forward. We need a Cyril Rioli to help out Eddie.

More like a medium forward who can take marks and also be fast on the deck, in the ilk of a Matty Lappin, Mark Williams, Alan Didak.

Walker can do it, we saw it in the Port game where he kicked three goals toward the end of the year.

They move him around too often. Should leave him up forward.

After listening to both sides of the argument for a while now, I have come up with this conclusion!

Carlton and Fremantle don't come to an agreement and he goes into the PSD.

Carlton free up a heap of space in their Salary cap and keep pick 24

Fremantle prove to all their players that they're as "tough" as Port Adelaide (Nick Stevens).

Melbourne gain Warnock for free.

See every team is a winner :) This could work out best for all teams involved.

That is my latest conclusion.
