... but it's worth it!! :D

I don't often post on here but I feel I need to share my story. As you will soon read, I have no-one else to talk to.

My missus is a passionate Power member. We were at the game, sitting amongst her passionate power member friends, and they were having a wow of a time at 3/4 time. I copped plenty!

As the final quarter rolled on I couldn't help but make the occassional comment like "didn't you have a bigger lead against Brisbane?" although I never really believed we could win it. I was just stoked we were finally making a contest.

Then Kruez...... then Simmo.... then Fev .... then the siren!! :thumbsu:

We had planned to catch up with friends after the game (power supporters, of course) but that got canned around about the same time Fev took his mark just before the siren!

It was a very, very chilly ride home. A very, very lonely night (if you know what I mean) and very, very quiet morning. The only words I've heard from her today were "the baby's nappy needs changing." I happily did it, singing the song all the while :D

I may soon be looking for alternative housing arrangments, but it was worth it. What a win!

dodge,duck,dip,dive and dodge...

copped a bit on the way out, but it was all verbal so no probs. I had 2 different guys tell me that the umpires won it for us which I found interesting. They obviously saw it from a different angle to me ;)

I usually wear a lot worse when we lose. Not sure what that says about Port fans?

You haven't worked this out terribly well at all. Your biggest mistake was allowing her to maintain her allegiance to Port after you got married. When I got married 21 1/2 years ago, it was very much a case of 'Love me, love my club' (to paraphrase a 1974 Peter Shelley song). Even though my wife had grown up a Richmond supporter, in the shadows of Punt Rd & the MCG, her supporting Richmond, once we were married, was just not viable (why anyone would want to support another team escapes me anyway).

As we move into our window of opportunity in the coming years, there are going to be many occasions when Carlton knock over Port. Maybe then your wife will see the light & move over to the Navy Blue (how can anyone support a team that wears teal. Is that really a colour?)

Sadly, she is born and bred Port. Her whole family is Port. They usually take great delight in telling me how bad we are, how Port have got our measure, all that sort of crap. They don't really see the funny side to it today. No-one is replying to my numerous text messages asking for their opinions on the game.

To be fair, apart from her footy allegiance she's a pretty good chick. No-one's perfect I guess ;)

That's why you have an English girlfriend who doesn't know anything about the game and convert her to a bluebagger. :thumbsu:

That's me with a Kiwi - it's the only way to make sure they make the switch. And boy you should have heard him last night 'us', 'we' it was great! Plus we get first and only dibs on who the kids will barrack for :D

BTW Sticks, good luck but hell yeah it's worth the marital pain :p:thumbsu:

I don't think I could marry a non-Carlton, but I'd probably be able to turn them. Anyway for my family its always been Carlton, or you're out of the family. :D:thumbsu:

By the time your wife comes around you'll have blue balls as well.....Now that is dedication to the Blue Baggers.

She started talking to me again this arvo. Then my SANFL team - Glenelg - beat Port. It may be some time before we re-commence practising for child number 3.......

luckily I've got the memories of yesterday to keep me satisfied :)

Yeh it's so simple when they're a 'blank slate' like the Chinese lady i'm seeing at the moment. Mind you, as MS said, you can nurture their appreciation of the 'light' side as i managed with my ex-fiancee who was a Pies supporter. Broke up 4 years ago but she still follows the Blues. :D:thumbsu:
