Seriously one of my most hated things in life. Had a car in the only available spot on Sunday parked right on the line so I managed to squeeze in but made sure I was 2 inches from the driver door. As luck would have it he arrives back at the same time as me and actually comments "how am I supposed to get in there?" I inform him aggressively "you should have thought about that before you parked your car ********" and proceed to sit in my car and catch up with the musings of BF for 5 mins whilst old mate stands there helplessly waiting and eventually climbs through his passenger side.

I had a mate that used to parallel park behind a vehicle parked over two bays and have another mate who carries postit notes to leaves on people's cars.

Does anyone else share this hatred?

Had a bloke parked right on the line like that a while back, he arrived back at his car just as I was pushing his wing mirror in to give the kids room to get past.

At our workplace staff and customers share our car park and we often stare in horror at the parking strategies employed.

If only people:

* knew where the edge of the car was
* turned their head while reversing instead of relying on mirrors

So many of our cars have been damaged by some of these dopes and many don't fess up. campaigners.

The worse case we had was actually quite sad; old fella had a seizure at the wheel as he was leaving, foot went on the accelerator and his xf falcon t boned a staff members car and shoved through the fence. Mucho shenanigans.

The foot was stuck on the accelerator so once resistance was encountered wheels started spinning and it looked like a burnout at Summernats.

When I had my good car I used to park over 2 lanes, but I always did it if the car park was empty and parked towards the back of the carpark to limit the amount of people I piss off. The amount of times people have hit my friends/parents and my own cars coming into/out of carparks, I just didn't wanna risk my pride and joy being hit.

How do you know he didn’t just park that way because the car in the next spot across was doing the same thing?

The only times I’ve ever parked close to lines was because the person next to me had, which forced me to.

The worst ones are those who park on an angle. They had plenty of space but just did a shit job parking so there's absolutely no way not to be right against them when you take the next space.

Or dickheads who think they can back into a spot but really can't.

Or pricks who pull through when they see an empty in front of their already spot (so anyone driving in the next section can't pull into it) just so they don't have to reverse.

Laziness. Thats all it is.

The good 'ol "couldnt be ****ed" mantra that lazy australians like to throw around.

Annoys me no end as well.

The Focus was there first. Yes the Corolla was driven by a young Asian chick, stereotypes don't just come out of nothing :p. I was in the car parked across from these two. The funny thing is the driver got out and appeared to be considering whether she needed to correct her park for a good 20-30 seconds before she thought '**** it, it's fine' and walked off to the shops.

Actually, when reverse parking (the most logical method), side mirrors are the most crucial component to judging your position, especially the location of the edges of your car. Learn to use your side mirrors correctly and you should park perfectly between the lines every time. It's why Budget rental trucks (which require no special license) have no window for rear view, but massive side mirrors instead.

You can't blame her for evolution.

Shopping: Dominant genetic trait.
Successfully completing 3 dimensional spacial manoeuvrings: Recessive genetic trait.

What happened to it?
Sold it, when I bought my motorbike I basically stopped driving it. Was just wasting money sitting there.

Given the number of people who don't know how to drive I'm not surprised so many don't know how to park.

I don't know about others but when I go to a carpark I deliberately distance myself from other cars (parked or otherwise) as much as possible. If there is one spot next to the entrance to a shop etc. and a bunch of free ones 50m away I'll head for the free ones and walk the extra distance.

I'm happy to admit I'm not a great parker in that I don't always get the car smack bang in the middle of the space first time, but if I'm on a 45 degree angle of parked on the line I'll reverse back out and rectify the situation. It takes maybe 10 seconds out of your day, is it that much to ask?

Man what about when you purposely park away from the masses and then some ****en arsewipe parks next to you when there are like 50 other free spots.

I mean wtf would someone do that!

Oh those people.

The same people that park next to you outside the cinema in the empty carpark, then sit right near you in the empty cinema.

Those people.

Sure, i also hate it, but also think well what if its not the idiot next to me, what if there was another idiot that parked shit next to him that made him park that way.
So you could actually be the subject of another thread, shit things that shit people do

This f***s me off more than anything in the whole world:

People who leave half a car gap between their car and the sign post that has no parking on the other side of it. That half or 3/4 a car gap is wasted because no one can actually park there.

Or, when there's a spot between two driveways that can comfortably fit 2 cars and some c*** smoking bandit parks right in the middle. wtf? Just annoys me how people can be so socially unaware.

I've lived in places where street parking is at a premium and often it's the same dumb arses who do it over and over again. And when you approach them to ask them if they can start parking their car so two cars can fit they start getting all defensive and now definitely won't do it because they think they will lose face. One particular knob-end didn't lose face but he lost his mirror one day. Hand his windscreen wipers bent in half the next. Third time lucky, started parking in a more sociable manner.

And for anyone reading this thread:

If you one day come back to your car and it's keyed, window smashed by a spark plug, windscreen wipers bent in half, mirror out of it's socket, tyre valve cut off with secateurs - it probably wasn't a random vandal. You most likely pissed someone off with how you parked.

Park properly and this won't happen to you.
