Josh Caddy the former No7 pick in the 2010 draft is still unsure of what he will do at years end. He has stated that he "is more comfortable on the Coast now" but without a signed contract that means little, if he decided to move back to Victoria would your team be intersted in this young gun and what would you have to offer.

Personally I hope he stays but I would wish him the best should he want to go home.

If he really wanted to get out of their he could nominate for the pre season draft if GC were wanting too much so they get nothing. GC really don't have a huge leg to stand on if he does decide to leave

Would love him.

But he'd cost a bucketload, probably a late first rounder?
With a stated interest in Boak you could assume that we would have a serious look at Caddy...suppose something around the ten mark. Wouldn't be upset if we offered our first and maybe a wee bit more

I wonder if he is still desperate to come to Essendon? I hope so, the power will be slightly in Essendon's favour this time around.

I'm a fan of his work, hopefully he ends up at the Bombers. I wouldn't complain if he did.

if you are gc how much do you value a pick in the teens right now??

im sure they want more talent, you never say no to more talent but i reckon they would want a compo pick much much more.

if i was gc ( and caddy wanted to go, speculation atm) ild knock on geelongs door first and ask for that mid first round compo pick. use it in a few years when you have a better bead on your list.

what do geelong supporters think, im surprised no cats supporters have spoken out, not too much interest in that caddys type at the cats??

That's unlikely given you'll be spending your 1st round pick on Joe Daniher, and he wont fall thorough to any pre season pick you might have

I doubt GC would be after draft picks if any players decided to leave, they would want more experienced players, not sure what players Essendon would give up for him.

A lot will depend on if they maintain their blind faith in kids or if they decide they need a body or two to backup Ablett and Bock. It would be a bit a pill to swallow considering the FA's they left unused. So they will probably keep going withe youth , which means draft picks. The complication is GC have to dump several players , they also will have P1 or P2 or P3 and Omera to add. They therefore may well have to be willing to deal for a comp pick that can be deferred. Perhaps they may value that even more than a real pick in the draft. Who knows they may even add a player thats in their fringe to a deal if the deal is good enough.

For Caddy and a player scheduled for delist like Jeremy Taylor I'd offer our R1 comp and change

Good point, they already got shot down offering 1st rounder and Hooker was it or Pears last year though which seems a pretty reasonable trade really, and they're crying out for key defenders. Hell, they even picked up Warnock :p

If he's desperate to come home there's no way Essendon can match the offers Geelong or a lower-ranked Vic club will. It's a big if, but the only way it can possibly happen is if one of our KPP is suddenly both valuable and surplus to requirements.

Yes, absolutely.

Caddy is a very good young player, and he plays in a position we have a serious deficiency in at the moment.

The main issue is, of course, what he'd cost the club that trades for him. Quality young player with a bright future, so would cost a fair bit - and potentially more than some Victorian clubs, including Carlton, would be willing to part with.

Unless Gold Coast/GWS picked him up...

Would be interested and would definitely offer a first rounder at least.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out, he's really got no way to get to Essendon given they don't have a first rounder, so it depends whether he's genuinely homesick in which case you would suspect he would be willing to play for other vic clubs.

Not mid round pick , we gave them that for the pick we got Smedts with. Its a pick following our natural R1. Still , I agree with your point. They have to reduce heads , and may not really want extra picks on top of their natural 3 in 2012 considering OMera comes on aswell.

I hope Caddy walks into the pre-season draft pool.

Either way, if Essendon get Caddy they will have to offer something
decent and possibly even overs.

Still desperately wants to be a Bomber. So does Josh Toy BTW. Gold Coast want compo picks so it's up to Essendon to get hold of them.

Players won't do the trick. Draft picks will.

Simply because we have to down our list something fierce at the end of this year, it's very difficult to see GC going after any players with their trades. They will just want picks, which they can then upgrade to higher picks and bring on fewer people. If that makes sense.

Mid to end of first round I'd be willing to take. Anything later and I'd let him walk.

Toy they can have for some TimTams.
