Won’t bother watching Footy Calcified tonight but had to laugh at this. Talk about clutching at straws. Once the Vic media gets set on a narrative they hammer the hell out of it.

They’ve trawled the stats trying to find our poor record at night away from Optus on a full moon in leap years.

As has been said ad nauseam on this forum the fact we’re in a QLD hub was not to blame for last nights loss. We were outplayed by a side fighting for their own finals prospects, missing the majority of our starting midfield, a rotation down from early in the second quarter, copped a questionable goal review going against us and even then nearly stole the game via an arguably soft free kick to JD.

But accordingly to the collective intellect of The Grass Tossing Sniper, Chompers and Carowhine “wEst CoAsT cAN’t wIN iN ThE hUb!”

Spare me.
I see we’re being written off again.

Delicious.

On the Arc decisions, it is amazing how many of the soft goal umpire calls will favour the VFL teams. Not just us, but when Port, Brissie etc play a Victorian team, the soft call goes in the Vicco's favour and it is up to Arc to prove it isn't inconclusive.

No it doesn't.

You guys are so bitter.

Apparently, Whately has nothing to say about the ARC now.

All season he’s been leading the charge for it to be reviewed but suddenly, tonight, just tacit agreement with Robbo about whatever bullshit his pickled brain vomits out.
Actually he did, while trying to get a bite out of Simmo about it when they crossed to him.

But yeah def not his usual 10min carry on when there is a questionable review.

What is going on now is 75% the result of injuries and fatigue. We have been decimated in our midfield, forwardline and our AA CHB is struggling after his return from a fractured thumb. The other 25% comes from the AFL also being nice enough to fixture us at night every ****ing week at a ground where the dew turns it into a wet weather game. That directly counters our great strength in the air and magnifies our deficiency on the ground. The compressed fixture coming just before finals and the weekly night scheduling are all just coincidences I'm sure.

So you think that before the goal umpire refers it upstairs, he has a quick think about the team and if it's a Victorian team he makes sure
the decision is in their favour?

Amazing.

Bottom line is an incorrect ARC decision probably just cost us top 4. Honestly we all know the ARC is just some noob in a channel 7 van watching the telecast. How is it possible that he didn't see the conclusive vision?

There are so many sliding door moments. Kennedy HTB, Nelson running too far.

To single out the ARC is an easy out, and just an excuse for some folks to marinade in their bitterness that they love so much.

It's getting to be like cricket when too much weight is given to the umpires call.
So if the ump calls it a point, it stay a point. So really, you're getting 2 decisions
depending on what the original call is.

If the ump is genuinely unsure, just refer it upstairs and let the ARC guy deal with it.

You're giving the players too much of an out IMO.
Yes, injuries have killed us, but we were fully fit in the first part of the hub, and losing three in a row really hurt us.
I know you will give another excuse like we didn't have an end date.

Other clubs have injuries and a compressed fixture.

It is OK to say we aren't good enough without looking for an excuse.

I agree with your point of view.

Players really had to show more in that first part of the hub, and now the chickens have come home to roost.

Conditions play a minor role in the outcome of games. We have looked 100x better in this hub as players are at least showing competitive spirit and desire to fight it out.

Simmo's game plan changes can't be underestimated either though.

Whatever happens in the H&A season, I feel that once we get Shuey and Yeo back we will be dangerous come finals. I reckon we could knock off one of Port/Brisbane.

Still have us pencilled in for at least a PF.

Don't forget Rotham having a brain fade with a block he had no need t do.
didnt impact the contest so a diodgy umpiring decision - there are so many. But the ARC defied immutable laws of physics and stuffed up. Similarly it was a poor decison by the goal ump who if in position could clearly see it was touched under the same laws of physics. U12 standards

Which was the “conclusive vision”? The shot from one goalpost showing the ball over the line before Gov touched it? Or the shot from the other goalpost showing it wasn’t over the line?

Too many posters on ignore these days, so not sure if it's been posted already, but I assume there'll be some melts over the 22under22 list just announced?

Haven’t seen any. We only had Allen, but can you make a case for anyone else on our list? Maybe Rotham?

Can we please drop the discussion about the goal camera? Its starting to get a bit minnow-club in here. I expect this sh*t to eat up pages and pages of the Freo or Melbourne boards, but not here.

Fact of the matter is that we should never have been in a position to allow such a decision to impact the result anyway. Dogs left the door open for us all night and we sh*t the bed hard. Yes we had injuries and a short turn around, but the Dogs are not a good side and it shouldnt have mattered. In reality we dicked around with the ball for approx. half a game in our backline because we didnt want to/ couldnt move the ball fast enough through the center, and the few times it did end up in our forward 50 we didnt convert enough chances. Regardless of who we played thats a recipe for defeat any day of the week.

The goal camera didnt lose us the game. We did that ourselves. Im almost tempted to say it was a very "West Coast" way to lose a crucial game.

Two camers. the AFL only pay for poor quality 'slow' cameras so the frames are far apart in time and dont give enough fidelity. I suspect one camera had a frame that showed the ball not over the line (Thus it wasnt) and the other showed a later frame in time.

As light travels in a strainght line, once a camera showes it didnt cross the line that is conclusive. AFL pay low wages (other trhan fat execs) and thats what you get - were both cameras even looked at?

I understand from others that cricket now use high speed cameras.

We fought hard and made mistakes. The ARC did cost us a win.
