Ok, were not travelling so weel and the moment but I feel we could almost be turning the corner If you could have 1 player from 1990 to spark up the team who would it be and why? (Craig Starcevich will not be excepted under any situation).

Considering,
Tarrant has replaced Daicos
Lonie has replaced Crosisca,
Wakelin and Presti cover Kelly and Christian
Licuria has replaced Tony Shaw
Rocca has replaced Starcevich

Pretty bloody obvious I'd reckon, Darren Millane is the player we would need.

although our 22 could do with Monky in the ruck

Boy, would this be a **** of a game or what??!!

Our current crop, with all due respect to Browny's year at FF in 1990, ****s all over them in terms of key forwards. And Shaw ain't in the same ball park as Buckley!

Conversely, the only comparrisons that cause real grief, are the Banks/Woey match-up (if only Banksy had Woey's skills, and Woey had Banksy's hardness) and of course the obvious miss-match, and the correct answer to this thread PETER DAICOS (vs a very humble Leon Davis).

Our half forward woes wouldn't be a bloody issue with this soopdoopastar on board!!

I'm with Hotpie on this one. Pants would lead the way with his hardness and willingness to work. There wouldn't be one player on the team who would not be inspired by him.

Of course Peter Daicos was one of a kind and would slot into any team in any era.

Great comparison!!! This is really really interesting. Barwick or Didak? I thought Manson V Rocca was funny.

Too hartd FIGJAM. My memory of some of those players may be exasperated by playing in a flag, but i really couldnt change too many. Players like Wright, Daicos, Brown and Millane were superstars, but its hard to change some of the other players.

I tried to write up a mixed side, but found myself editing over and over so i will leave it out.

Ok here's my combined side

Kerrison Prestigiacomo Clement
Morwood Kelly Crosisica
Milllane Buckley Wright
Russell Rocca Burns
Brown Tarrant Daicos

Monkhorst McGuane Shaw

Four on the bench, after all its 2004
Fraser Johnson Licuria Francis

apologies to Woey Tarks and Dougie Barwick

Would be a Great Game but i Tell you one Thing, I'd have Dane Swan Back Pocket instead of Cole.

But anyway this would be a Great Match..

But in answer to your Q.. Darren Millaine, all the way. You can't replace someone as good as he was.

After a bit of thought I'd have to say Daicos.

We are crying out for a seasoned veteran half forward flanker, to take the heat of Dids and provide us with a medium sized marking option and some crumbing goals.

Millane not far off second, consistent, hard and tough midfielder who is versatile and doesn't take crap from anyone, let alone half the sheilas in todays game.

i would toss up between millane daicos and wright
and would probably say wright, adds some pace and skill into the midfield, although it is tough to turn down millane and daicos

I'm a bit surprised we haven't had more rowdy mentions. In the last few weeks we would have loved someone with his guts going in for the ball, plus he could kick a goal and boy do we need that at the moment.

I love the combined team. Any chance someone out there is related to Harry Potter and could make this happen?

I'd go;

1. Daicos
2. Millane
3. Brown
4. McGuane
5. Russell

But then that would go against the title of the thread, wouldn't it! ;)

DOUGIE BARWICK!!!!!*

*only if Darren Bewick agrees to come back for Essendon and give away another 50 on him ala the '90 GF. A sweeter moment in the history of sport there has not been.

The midfield of 1990 would of killed the current crop. McGuane would kill McGough and I think that Francis (playing in 1990) would have the wood over Licca. Monky over Fras, Dazza (RIP) over Burnsy (sorry scotty) and Wright easily over BJ. The only one that the current boys that would win his his match would be Buckley over Shaw. Would still be close though.

But I think the forwards and backs would be pritty evan. Both have stengths and weaknesses. Still cant decide between Browny and Tazza.

The best contest would be in the coach's box. When a tussle.

On current form I'm not so sure that Wright would go ahead of Johnno, but it's like comparing chalk and cheese. MIlane v BUrns in a head over the ball content! now that would be fun

In 1990 we got drive out of the backline from Morwood but also Jamie Turner.
Chritian and Kelly were great at the spoil but how many times did Turner whisk it out of defence across CHB and deliver it beautifully to a player in the clear.

Our mid field was hard working, our forward set up was ordinary apart from Daics but our Back 6 was the diamond like nut that was week in week out very very difficult to crack.
It was our indomitable strength.

We were competitive because of our back 6. They leaked so few goals that the forwards didn't have to bail hard or effectively to keep the team afloat.
