I think there was a need for a couple inside mids, a ruck, a back pocket specialist type player and another KPB.

Wood is the ruck, J-Mac really appears to be one of the inside mids with good skills and IMO having JA go back and making Heater play on the oppositions best small foward almost does the job at that end. Heater has not been given oppositions best smalls in the past as he is so needed in our rebound, If we get a guy like Anthony who can use it as well as he does there to help assit in the rebound, as well as continued improvement from Harry then Heater can go to the oppositions best small foward. That way it won't be so bad if his opponent is running him away from the ball as they would be losing a good player rather then a nothing player.

I was an advocate a couple of weeks ago of trading for a Jake King or David Johnson if they were to come cheap for the back pocket role but I think you may be right.

If JA does go back we could have JA, Heater and Harry providing run and rebound. That means depending on match-ups we could play Heater or Harry on the small forwards.

JA really does loom as the wildcard. He provides great flexibility in that he can go forward if we need but also flexibility in our backline structure.

i saw a bit of this bloke play in u/18/school football and i was stoked he slipped through to our pick. he is as hard as a cats head and skills to match, i know he is going to make it. he has our captain to look up to, scoot burns upgrade+mccarthy

yeah JA looks great but im unsure where he should end up playing. He has been excellent upfront and he is deadly infront of the sticks. Would suck if he went back but if he is a better defender then forward then we cant go wrong.

Wisbey has reposted his draft profile of McCarthy here.

Does rate him Highly, Those remember he did Rate Thomas,Pendlebury,Reid,Brown and Dawes
.

SO he is not 100% accurate but that does give you a very good idea what player he is

How is he not 100% accurate, that is a very Ignorant statement if you ask me.

Pendles is a star

all the others have shown very good signs for the age and position type, I still rate all those players very highly as they have huge potential.

To say he is not 100% accurate is to imply he has been wrong, and by no means has any of them "not made it" or even shown signs of "not making it."

That's simply not true Dave. He did rate Thomas & said he would make it, just wasn't sure whether he'd be a superstar or not, rated him an early 2nd round pick from memory so had him in the top 20 of his draft.

Said Pendles could go either way, be very good or average, I was excited after reading his profile on Pendles anyway, there were just a few ?'s due to the short time Pendles had had in the game. From memory he thought he was probably a late round 2 pick & given some clubs apparently didn't even have him in their best 50 he though more of him than many.

He put Brown on his likely to make it list.

He liked a lot about Reid but wasn't sure what role he would fit into at AFL & had major issues with his balance (& on evidence this remains an issue). Didn't think he would make it based of what he had done at U18 level.

He thought Dawes probably wouldn't make it.

He never said Billy Morrison would be the next Carey. He did rate Billy highly, as did most recruiters at the time, there were certainly no raised eyebrows when we took him. He simply had in Billy's profile "STYLE LIKE: Jonathon Brown", the same as he has said in McCarthy's profile "STYLE LIKE: Adcock". Nowhere did he say Billy would be the next J Brown or Carey.

Obviously he doesn't have a 100% strike rate (would never claim he did have) but no recruiting analyst does. Regardless, his profiles are always a good read.

Does anyone know where you can get these write ups for other draftees?? Also, can you get them for this years draft candidates??

Yeah no doubt McCarthy has made a smooth transition to the big time!
He was a very good junior player but was dogged by injury. He looks like a real keeper and a solid 8-10 year career could be on the way for this boy especially if he keeps playing the brand of footy he is now!

I have enormous confidence in this kid's ability to become at least a very good AFL player.

Looks like he belongs at this level.
