Apparently after getting out he threw his box and it temporarily damaged a TV, which is now working. Still the Indians feel it worthy of a formal complaint. Ridiculous, like we would make a formal complaint if they did something similar in the dressing room...

AUSTRALIA captain Ricky Ponting is likely to face a disciplinary hearing following an incident in which a TV was damaged in the team dressing room.

Ponting was furious after being run out for 28 during Monday night's World Cup win over Zimbabwe in Ahmedabad.

But the team says the skipper's actions in the dressing room immediately afterwards have been overblown in Indian media reports, which claimed he smashed an expensive tv with a bat.

"Ricky threw his box (groin protector) into his bag and it flew up into a TV set," spokesman Lachy Patterson said.

"It wasn't smashed. There was a small blackout on one corner of the screen. It was still working when (it was) replaced."

Is it just me or do Indians love to complain about absolutely everything, yet what they do is perfect. Call me racist but they just piss me off.

Ricky pays for a new TV, case closed no big deal.

Either Ricky carries a trampoline in his bag or he's the rock skipping world champion.

Ponting is one of the biggest sooks in the game. All class saying "get f'd" to himself when he got run out by some good cricket and his poor judgement.

He is getting as bad as Ganguly and Singh. Grow up Ricky.

Fancy a cricketer cursing at himself for being ran out. If only he was as dignified as those Indians?

If anyone should grow up it's those complaining about this. Ponting can't cough in the wrong direction without the cricket world jumping on it and sooking about the big bad aussies again.

Who said the Indian's were dignified? If an Indian carried on the way that muppet Ponting does, they deserve the same scrutiny. It was only a few months ago Ponting got done for disputing a decision by pointing his finger in an umpires face. Does he ever think about how he comes across?

Look at all the great Australian captains we have had recently - Taylor, Waugh etc. Ponting doesn't hold a candle to those guys and doesn't conduct himself as a leader should. Taylor in particular had the ability to bring his team together. Ponting has and never will have that ability and the onfield results speak volumes of his leadership capabilities.

Punter gets judged more harshly than any of those guys, and it's ridiculous.

*IF* the Indians behaved like he did? How about racially abusing our players? Having an umpire sacked? Threatening to sook and quit the tour? Holding a press conference where you Captain insults the other team because you're a sook?

You're dreaming Phil.

And it's a joke that this is even news. I couldn't give a shit whether he accidentally broke the TV, or he threw his bat at it.

Maybe they should look at their own team, the most petulant side in world cricket.

I totally agree that the Indians are a bunch of sooks. I'm not denying it. Pakistan are just as bad. But the thread is about Ponting's behaviour which isn't exactly how you want your captain behaving. The way he carries on after losing his wicket is like a little baby that's lost his dummy. What kind of example is that setting the rest of the kids in the team? Same with the finger pointing gesture to the umpire. Could never imagine Taylor pulling that sort of crap because he understood what leadership was.

Ponting deserves to get judged harshly because he acts like a tool on the field, has been the only captain to lose the Ashes consecutively and his leadership stinks. Seems like you are the one who is dreaming - or you are just happy to celebrate mediocrity.

I for one believe it to be a plausable excuse & I can't stand him.
The only reason I know its not BS is, I saw a teammate of mine come into the changerooms after being bowled for 2 and threw his box into a window shattering it.

That he takes his job very, very seriously and was absolutely filthy at himself for failing?

I don't have a problem with sportspeople showing emotion and passion.

The Indian media blowing something out of proportion?

Why I never.

Seriously though, I'd love for Punter to just embrace the heel role, especially in India. It was awesome to see him do the Hogan "I can't hear you" thing and just stick it to all these knobs.

Who wouldn't want to see that?

Neither do I. Completely natural in a competitive environment. But there is a fine line between being filthy and managing your emotions effectively. Unfortunately Ricky has no idea about conduct.

As far as his job is concerned, yes he takes it seriously but that doesn't give him a feee pass to act like a w***er.
