PS4 inFAMOUS: Second Son

Bit torn on this one. It does a lot right - sense of freedom, cool combat options and good parkour/city traversal (once you upgrade your powers - climbing is still ridiculously bad without neon) but **** me it can be tedious at times. As others have mentioned, the repeditive gameplay and puddle-depth side missions. The spray art missions ('missions', lol) were an OK idea but did there really need to be 378 of them, over it after doing about 5. Also the boss fights, particularly
Eugine/He Who Dwells
. Even after you figure out the pattern it just goes on forever - that's not challenging its just boring.

It does look pretty, the reflections and particle effects are mad.

Still worth a play (not like there's much else happening on PS4) but definitely not the killer app they were probably hoping for.

IS anyone else having trouble linking there account on the paper trail website?

Thought i would add this for those that may not know what paper trail is.

Yep found a paper trail mission but didn't work for me, couldn't link.

Neon v Smoke... whats everyones Fav?

Smoke for combat, Neon for movement/traversal

Finally 100% my good play through. Really can't be arsed playing through an evil one now, but I'll keep the game and do it for the platinum later on when the monotony has worn on a bit. Clearing all those districts was a pain in the arse.

Finally got to start playing it over the weekend and really liking it (though some of the missions are a bit repetitive). As someone who has platinum-ed both Infamous 1 and 2, I kind of get the feeling the gameplay hasn't evolved a whole lot and that the climbing in particular could use a bit of work.

I'm about half way though (completely cleared the first island territories and have 2 left on the second one) - have been doing mostly that instead of the missions.

Did anyone else play the Cole's legacy DLC? I thought it was a bit underwhelming though I dig the beanie I got with my pre order :D

Hope they bring out a mission creator like that had in IF2 - that was pretty fun.

The repetition of this game makes it quite underwhelming - its graphically cool but it doesn't leave you wanting to play it again.
I had to quote this
1, because I agree
And 2, because I love your user name.

Upcoming patch

We also want you to know that we listen to your complaints. Some big, some small, but we take them all to heart. We never want to lose sight of how important it is that we listen to all of you. We can always be better.

So to say thanks, not just for all the support but also for your passionate requests to make the game better, we’ve started work on a few small features which we’ll be delivering in the weeks to come.

Change Time-of-Day
Once you beat the game, a new entry will appear on the options menu to allow you to select the time of day! A very popular request indeed, and one we’re excited to enable for you all.

HUD On/Off
Especially for those amazingly talented screenshot taking folks, we’re including an option to let you turn the HUD on and off.

Cap at 30FPS
Internally we prefer the unlocked frame rate, but we recognize that some players find it distressing. So we’ll provide a way to ensure the game is not bumping up over 30FPS, if that’s how you prefer to play.

i love that they are adding a time of day thing, i was trying to show someone how amazing the game looks playing with Neon at night but couldnt find any of my saves with night time and upgraded powers. i wish they would let up re-climb the space needle.

and the FPS cap is a choice. just so it doesnt jump from 50-30FPS when using a superpower.

Alright I have finished my first playthrough and my thoughts are: the gameplay was repetitive but the story was good.

I also don't get the point of those D.U.P. missions at the end of the game.

The story okay, what killed it for me was the repetivness (sp?) of the boss fights. I hated one of them so much that it really became a chore to try and finish it.

Thought the story was pretty close to utter shite myself.

I know this was a semi-reboot with no Cole but the epic, world-shaping events of Infamous 1 and 2 that led to the DUP and environment of this game weren't even mentioned. Like this existed in a vacuum somehow.

Thought the whole motivation was pretty flimsy too. 1 and 2 just felt alot more epic, more important. Whereas this pretty much boiled down to 'grandma has rocks in her leg, I better go fix it'. I'm probably not doing a good job explaining but it just didn't hang together for me.

The story is pretty shit, but the added detail in the cutscenes kept me more engrossed than I should have been until completion.

When a game with a good plot harnesses those looks we will be in for a treat.
