Thats a great analysis MJ_Dogs.
We have done so well to continue to win under those circumstances. Hopefully we start to peak and the injuries subside in the run home.

Given the attritional nature of the game our injury list isn't that unusual. We shouldn't wallow in self-pity.

Of the teams around us, I'd say Adelaide, Geelong and West Coast (excepting NicNat) have had a pretty good run this year. Their fans would probably say different.

I think most of us are pretty impressed at what we have been able to accomplish given our injuries throughout the year. Of course it's all relative to other teams' injury lists. Hawthorn of last year comes to mind. They got healthy at the right time. Hoping we can too but we need a bit of good fortune to stop this run of injuries every week.

I agree, I think what we've accomplished this season is pretty amazing - we've had to restructure our style as we've lost our bombing run out of the back line & played with a disjointed forward line.

Official Injury List from http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/injury-news
WESTERN BULLDOGS INJURY LIST
Player Injury Duration
Tom Liberatore ribs test
Nathan Hrovat shoulder test
Toby McLean foot 1 week
Jake Stringer AC joint 1 week
Luke Dahlhaus knee 1 - 2 weeks
Bailey Williams knee 1 - 2 weeks
Marcus Adams foot 3 weeks
Tom Campbell foot TBC
Robert Murphy knee season
Josh Prudden knee season
* Injury list updated on Monday 18 July 2016

Stringer should be back for the Geelong game but would not be expecting Dahl, McLean or Williams to be thrown straight in even if declared fit. Well, maybe Dahl if absolutely 100% but it's more important he's right for the finals so I'd like to see him treated conservatively.

Is there a Footscray game in the VFL this week? I'm hoping Hrovat can get some match time.

Adams and Campbell with foot injuries are a worry. At best we will have Adams back for Rd 21 but wouldn't surprise if it was longer.

I see BTC is TBC - someone at WO has a sense of humour. But seriously, that could be shorthand for "season".

Yes we do, against Northern Blues, and he's been named so he'll get some match time. Hopefully he plays well.

Not really happy that it seems

a) can't catch a break - Redpath will be doubtful & Morris is injured

b) we seem to bring players back in that aren't right. Libba should not be playing.

Here's the official list as of yesterday (my formatting):

WESTERN BULLDOGS INJURY LIST
Player --- Injury --- Duration
---------------Group 1---------------------
Jake Stringer AC joint available
Luke Dahlhaus knee test
Toby McLean foot test
Dale Morris hamstring tightness test

---------------Group 2---------------------
Bailey Williams knee 1 -2 weeks
Marcus Adams foot 2 weeks

---------------Group 3---------------------
Tom Campbell foot TBC
Jack Redpath knee season
Mitch Wallis broken leg season
Robert Murphy knee season
Josh Prudden knee season

In group 1 we should hopeful that Stringer, Dahlhaus and McLean will be back this week. Not sure if McLean will go straight into the seniors but it wouldn't surprise. Morris would be only a remote chance IMO, especially if MD is correct (said to be limping heavily at the club this week).

In group 2 I'd expect Williams to come back via the VFL but Adams should come straight back in, hopefully against Collingwood. I hope it really is only 2 weeks - difficult to say with foot injuries.

Add to group 3: Stewart Crameri (not injured but unavailable nonetheless) and Goetz (delisted) and you have 6 players now out for the season. Campbell could be a 7th - will be assessed when his boot comes off in a week or two, but I'd guess Rd 23 at best. Even then he will probably come back via the VFL, which is where he was playing before his injury. And that's if Footscray are still playing, of course.

My fervent hope for this week - probably even more than a win against Geelong - is no more injuries thanks. I want us to be settled and fit for the start of the finals.

Adams said at social club pre-game he was 4 weeks away. Remember articles saying Rd 21, which seems about right.

Hrovat and McLean aren't available for selection, surely, at AFL level, so you might need to factor them in to your analysis differently.

Hrovat because just 1 game at VFL level isn't enough for the match fitness at AFL level, given that he's only played about a game and a half of competitive footy otherwise for this entire season, and McLean is clearly going to need probably one game at VFL level for match fitness before AFL level.

Hrovat I agree, so yes you could add him to the list of players not yet in consideration, but if he puts in another big effort this week he might start to figure in MC discussions.

McLean has been out since round 12, only one week longer than Dahlhaus. My thinking is that both could do with some match conditioning but Dahlhaus is a class above McLean at this stage and is likely to justify his inclusion immediately. I'd want to see McLean show some form at VFL level before selecting him for the seniors. Not sure if MC sees it the same way though. They might really rate him enough to bring him straight back.

Another point to make is that Libba might actually be ready to play this week (unlike last week). That's if he didn't aggravate his rib injury against St Kilda.

He got crunched in his first touch at the start of the game and was a free against him for holding the ball - not much prior opportunity
:(

Worryingly, didn't see him at many centre bounces for the rest of the game until quite late on...

This week is the key. If we get over Geelong, we're a chance to win the rest of our games and finish top 4 even with our outs, then have Adams & Campbell back for finals
